Starting to get into Turn-Based RPGs.

I don't know why I never liked them before, but I'm starting to get into them now. Especialy since I started playing Persona 3, which is one of my favorite games....

I guess when I was younger I just wanted fast-paced-no-thinking-involved kinda game :P But now I'm more mature and love games with great stories. Too bad there are only a few RPGs that I'm interested in. I like my games to have a dark feel, mostly grimm. Or have a really good love story, so (pretty) please give me some reccomendations that fit into one of those two catagories. Thanks :D

The best Manga you've never heard of.

PREIST

It's an occult/horror series about a preist (go figure lol) named Ivan Issacs who has been brought back to life after dying and selling half of his soul to hell. After this he has a demon harboring inside of him. It takes place roughly 300 years ago in the western/cowboys and indians setting. So far it may sound like a comic named "Preacher" but it is soo different. Ivan fights a ton of demons and zombies and other unspeakable evil along his path of revenge for being taken away from the love of his life Gena.

It may sound kind of ordinary or cliche, but it is far better. words can't do it justice. It's amazing. go read it and see for yourself.

10/10

PS: It's also my favorite manga.

What I think of Rock Band

In Short: I like Guitar Hero III better, and if you're still reading I'd like to tell you why.

First off, I do find Rock Band really fun, the drums are awsome and that feeling you get when you play a song with a group of people (friends or strangers) it's almost indescribable how it feels. My main issues with it are as follows:

1.) Songs: I don't care for most of the songs in Rock Band, there are a few good ones, but when I saw the tracklist for the first time I was pretty dissapointed and didn't find it appealing, where as i saw GHIII's tracklist and only disliked about 5 songs out of the 70 (or so) that are in the game. I'm a metal-head and while "Enter Sandman" a helluva good song it just isn't good enough for me to like the Rock Band more than I did before hand, where Guitar Hero III is a mostly metal based game. I realise many people are excited for the Downloadable albums, and yeah that's great, but I don't really care for any of the albums (announced) that will be available. But I understand that RB has a casual target audience, hence chosing popular songs rather than songs that would best fit the game.

2.) Difficulty: Again I know that RB is targeting casual audiences, but i just would've liked it to be at least a little harder. For me GHIII's difficulty is just right, yeah it takes practice and not everyone will be able to beat "Through The Fire and Flames," but i find RB just too damn easy. Okay, the drums are a challenge...but it's probably safe to say they only take some getting use to, and if you don't know the beat to a song you're pretty much screwed. However, i was able to play through most of the songs on drumson medium with no worries. I realise I'm not most people, and noI'm not trying to sound arrogant (sorry if i do,) but once you're able to play through expert on GHIII then it's not that hard to learn the new patterns on drums. On medium at least.

3.) Presentation: OK, so this one might not be that important as the others..but i still prefer the look of GHIII more than RB..even if the girls look like glorified (and dirty) strippers...I wouldn't touch any of them :P . But once again, I like metal, and I like most of the venues more..yeah, some are just cheesy though.

Now, to be fair I'll give you my problems with GHIII

Boss Fights: could've worked I guess..but execution sucked.

Strippers: I understand that they were trying to make everything look more metal..but the females in that game just look..bleh. I do like Cassy's "Mo' Leather" costums, but all of the other girls (Especially Judy) just look like strippers. I guess that works for most people, but not me.

Final Thoughts: I was really looking forward to RB and for a while was more excited about that game than GHIII, but in the end it all came down to the Tracklists, because what's the point of playing all of these instruments if you don't care for the song in the first place? I'm sure at some point I'll like RB more, when and/or if they add more metal to their arsenal. Since I'm fully aware that it's only a matter of time before GH turns into just another poor and shady music game..kinda like DDR.

Boycott all Cnet sites on Dec. 3

yes that's tomorrow, but as an effort to make the head of Cnet's job as difficult as possible for firing Jeff there will be a boycott tomorrow for 24 hours..i hope whoever reads this will do the same.

March of the Martyrs

This whole Jeff vs. Cnet and Eidos thing has really spoiled all of my respect for Gamespot..and now that Tim Tracey has left i have nothing but respect for him. I'm not worried about Jeff, with his reputation he'll be back in the buisness in no time-or maybe even turning his band Midnight Brown into a full time thing-, but i am appauled at Cnet for firing him because he voiced his opinion about a crap game..i hope other employees of Gamespot and Cnet will leave as well, it's the right thing to do..

Viva La Jeff!

to animal lovers

The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on the purple box "fund food for animals" for free. This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising. Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know.
