my opinion on major team sports

basketball>soccer>>>>american football>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>baseball>hockey

-basketball is the most exciting and you get to know the stars, really easy to get into a team.

-Soccer is the most sophisticated of all major sports, your basically watching a 90 minute chess match with only a break in between.Yes goals are not scored every minute, but that makes the emotion of the goals that much greater. A goal in the 90th minute to win a game can not be topped in team sports.

-Amerian Football aka hand egg is probably the best sport to watch with other people, constant pauses allow for instant reflection on the last play. basically the best sport for people with low attention span.

-baseball is garbage and requires no athleticism. tradition is all that keeps this archaic game relevant.

-hockey is really boring and too chaotic. the fact that they allowed to fight, while in other sports (NBA) a fight labels the athletes thugs, is a complete joke.

Americans are the most ignorant nation on earth, sometimes i feel ashamed to be one.

props to ND for coming with a new IP this late in a console generation. something you don't see often from AAA developers. Game looks awesome, if its a mix of Resident Evil, Left 4 Dead, Silent Hill and Uncharted, its gonna be awesome. I don't care if theres no multiplayer, but they should include a co op campaign of some kind and a horde type mode, only makes sense with the source material.

Resident Evil 4 by far

shooter- Half Life 2 (great atmosphere, setting, love source enigne)

Rpg-Final Fantasy 7(great characters, music, story, good fighting system, classic)

MM0- dont play

sports- Fifa 12 ( great gameplay, tons of features and teams)

Adventure- Uncharted 2 (great story, characters, pacing, gameplay)

Strategy- dont play

puzzle- Portal 2 (love this game)

Action- Metal Gear Solid 3 (great story, characters, stealth gameplay)

simulation- dont play

Racing- Mario Kart Wii(fun, multiplayer, trash talking)

Fighter- Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo ( love 4 as well, but nothing beat this)

If Orange Box counts then its Half Life 2, if it doesn't then its Resistance 3 for me. honorable mentions: Killzone 2, Bioshock

I think Portal 2 deserves game of they year. Its the most polished, fun, gratifying, solo and co op experience of the year. When going through contenders i can think of weaknesses for every other contender. For example Skyrim is a glitchy mess, Arkham City was disjointed and didn't know if it wanted to be a linear or open world game, Uncharted 3 was great but more of the same, Zelda won't get goty here and i haven't played it. Battlefield 3 has terrible singleplayer. Modern Warfare 3 sucks. AC Revalation is more of the same. LA Noire was repetitive and too long imo. Deus Ex i haven't played but is probably not goty contender. Dark Souls maybe has a darkhorse chance but its not my type of game.

Portal 2 is the only game i played this year that i have no complaints about, i enjoyed it thoroughly, its a unique experience and the polish Valve put on it is insane. My Goty, hopefully it doesn't get overlooked. My runner up is Dead Space 2, no complaints about that game either, just liked Portal 2 better.

i'll wait a year or two for the game of the year edition to go down to 20 bucks, and for most of the bugs to be patched. if theres one thing i have learned this gen, its to not buy a bethesda game at launch.

Mass effect is the only bioware series that i enjoyed, and i always gave the other ones chances because of the "bioware legacy", so they are doing something right with mass effect.
