lemme guess, anyone who would call playing Mario games ridiculous would have to be... an Xbot. Please don't make a fool of yourself and dis the best known video gaming franchise in history. You'll not only not know what your talking about, but you'll be denying yourself the opportunity to play and fully enjoy some of the gaming's most revered titles. Plus, what if I called Halo or COD4:MW ridiculous? Granted they are not, but neither is Mario, and my saying so would annoy you as much as you have annoyed me.

I just got Paper mario on the virtual console and Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga on the GameBoy Advance. I know M&A:SS is old, but whenever I get like 20 bucks accumulated, I look on Gamespot for old titles with great reviews and buy them if I missed them. I also recently pre ordered Star Wars The Force Unleashed with birthday cash. Oh yeah, I also recently bought a great condition used DS (kinda late I know) and LOZ: Phantom Hourglass and NSMB.

Before posting my top 10, I want to let you know that while this is in the legacy platforms section, there is a small amount of in fo that could be in the Wii section due to having 6 possible ten best mario games candidates been released on the system. I ask simply that, using my format, you write your favorite ten mario adventures and why you put them in your top ten. Without further adieu, my list:

10. Super Mario Sunshine: Like Super Paper Mario, Sunshine was the worst of its sub-series, the 3D Mario platformers. Yet, also like Super Paper Mario except better, it was still so great that the statement proves a compliment for the Mario franchise rather than an insult. The tropical environments still look awesome.

9. Mario Kart Wii/DS: Ok, I know that the Wii and DS versions of Kart are very different, but I can't decide. The awesome portable wireless connectivity of the DS iteration and the wii wheel's surprisingly smooth controls in Mario Kart Wii are equal IMO, and both are good enough for number ten.

8. New Super Mario Bros: This game is awesome. The graphics are awesome. The gameplay is awesome. The sound is awesome. The story is awesome (ok maybe not, but who cares?) So why isn't it number one. It was too short, even considering all the levels it has, and it is way too easy. I found every level to be a piece of cake to finish with exception of the last level and a few select secret levels. It was still quite fun to play though.

7. Super Mario World: This game is probably my favorite SNES game ever. It successfully took Mario to the colorful world of the Super Nintendo, and it introduced Yoshi! God, I love that little, green, steroid tongue, dragon, flying, ..., um, dino..., he rocks, ok!

6. Paper Mario: This quirky RPG struck me as incredible the minute I picked it up. The funny writing, the spectacular combat system, the cute visual style, it was nothing but fun.

5. Super Smash Bros Brawl: I cannot recommend this enough as a game. As a Mario game, it still rocks, but it can't be number one because it is not all about Mario. Anyhow, the graphics were second only to Super Mario Galaxy on the Wii, and the Brawl mode truly has everlasting replay value and potential. I wish the Emissary were more exhilarating, but it doesn't even matter. This is one of my favorite games ever, and it deserves to make it on the list.

4. Super Mario Bros: Ah the original. The original Zelda invented the action adventure. The original Pokemon games gave a new meaning to the word addicting. The original Metroid began a series of amazing action side-scrolling shooters. And the original Super Mario Bros invented the platformer. It had amazing level design, that while Ive never actually played all of it, was fantastic every minute I did play it. And the soundtrck is probably as recognized in pop culture as Mickey Mouse or Bugs Bunny.

3. Super Mario Bros 3: If the original SMB invented the 2D platformer, SMB3 refined to a perfected formula that has yet to be repeated. The levels, power ups, challenge, all of it is epic, down to the very last pixel. I have never been more addicted to a 2D video game. EVER.

2. Super Mario 64: If Mario came onto the 2D scene with style, then his 3D introduction had him drive in by Rolls Royce, roll out a gold plated red carpet, walk on it with solid gold high top sneakers, and bling. LOTS of bling. The gameplay is still awesome, and the sense of open world exploration still gives me the chills. SM64 invented 3D console gaming. No other game except perhaps The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time can claim that kind of fame.

1.Super Mario Galaxy: Ah, here we are. Not only is Super Mario Galaxy the top Mario game of all time, but I'm quite positive it can be called the greatest GAME of all time. The graphics, sound, gameplay, presentation, and replay value were all at least spectacular, usually better than that. I loved this game more than any other game I have ever played. I can't say anything more than that.

You should never buy an expensive console for one game. You might end up seeing or wanting something else, and because of your careless choice, it will be out of your reach. However, this " especially on Wii " business is crap. The Wii has many triple A games like SMG, LOZTP,MP3C,and SSBB.

Wii 9/10: Somehow the Wii pulled off the ultimate innovation, and it worked. Triple A titles like Super Mario Galaxy, Warioware: Smoothmoves, and Twilight Princess have all shown spectacular results with the motion sensing wii remote. Plus, a lot of games that didn't use the remote's motion sensitivity a lot like Brawl were fantastic as well. I would have given the Wii a ten, but while there are a few third party gems like Zach and Wiki and Boom Blox on the Wii, the majority of the Wii's third party lineup is terrible. Yet even with those games, the Wii is my bick for best of the gen.

Xbox 360 7.5/10: I know I will recieve some hatemail for this, considering I gave only a decent score to what many consider the best console, but let me show you why. Most of the 360's triple A titles, and there are a damn lot, are only First and Third-Person Shooters, with one RPG (Elder Scrolls IV) and a racing game (Fotza Motorsport 2). There is not a single good platformer, party game, fighter, or even true action adventure on the system. If you look at the Wii's library however, it has an amazing Fighter (SSBB), an amazing FPS (Metroid Prime 3: Corruption), an amazing action RPG (LOZ: Twilight Princess), a great online racer (MarioKart Wii), an amazing array of party games, from Boom Blox to Wii Sports to Mario Party 8, and arguably the greatest 3D platformer ever made, Super Mario Galaxy. Its way more balanced.

PS3 8/10: I'm sure I'll recieve more hatemail for this since I rated the PS3 as better than the 360, but Playstation Network is getting pretty close to being as good as live, and its free. Plus the console has some great exclusives, including the fantastic MGS4, and with the like of Resistance 2 and Little BIg Planet down the road, the system has tons of potential. Too bad it dealied out so much crap before.

DS 8/10: My favorite portable, the DS showed that the touch screen could be great in places where it looked disastrous, like action RPG in LOZ: Phantom Hourglass. Plus, the system has some great online connections, and while everything you thought would be good is great, some unexpected titles like Elite Beat Agents and dare I say, Nintendogs have been excellent as well. The system did atempt too many times to repeat what consoles did, like trying Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare, and like the previously mentioned, most turned out to be terrible.

PSP 7/10 The least impressive console I've seen this gen, while the PSP had unheard of portable graphics and a few masterpieces like Daxter and Tekken 5: Dark Ressurection, there is just not enough good games (Gamespot only gave about 6 of them scores above 9, and the highest was a 9.2) to keep me excited. I kind off consider it taking a similar route to the 360, because it went for spectacular technicals, but forgot to make the library more varied and higher quality.

There you go. I didn't rate the PC because it has been around for more than just this gen.

Either Pit or Toon Link. The other guys are cool but I love how Pit and Toon LInk handle, especially with their final smashes.

Pokemon Red. I was probably 5 or six years old at the time of me playing it, but I loved every minute.
