Does anyone know if there is an option to turn off items in brawl when you're online?

I'm not sure if i'm the only one, but I absalutly can't STAND items. I much prefer to play without items. Cause then, you beat some one up, and then all they talk about is how you got this item or that, and it was all luck, or the reverse, you've owning somone and then all of a sudden a full recovery heart drops right beside a hammer....and now all you're ownage just went out the window because of some stupid items.:x

Anyway that's just my opinion on it, I was wondering how many of you out there find items annoying as well?

Any info on whether item's will be able to be turned off would be awesome! thanks for taking the time to read!:D

for me SSB's was a social game, I played it, my friends played it, part of our status was how good we played the game.

On saturday's there would be about 8 or 9 people all sitting on chairs around our tv playing 2 losers swap out, we'd have team battles, and there was just such an energy with the game, every single day after school growing up, we'd play smash brothers, we'd have matches and talk while we smashed eachother, and when meele came out, we were all over that one as well, it was beauitful, because everyone recignized the characters, the fighting system was simple to grasp, but so hard to master, that sinking time into learning to fight better paid off in the end.

The main thing i'm excited for with this game is the addition of online play, since I ran out of competition, and couldn't afford to travel hundreds of miles to go to some convention or tournement. This addition of online play is what rekindles the spark in me to play again. There's just something fun about sitting around playing smash brothers with a group of your good friends, laughing it up, while beating eachother up.

Now that I'm older, and we've all moved onto university etc, we can't possibly do that anymore, but with online play we can conference call and play smash together like the old days!

[QUOTE="Retrophan"]Cool, thanks for sharing your thoughts on the game. I'm still on the fence about picking it up but something about the game keeps calling to me (perhaps my interest in diving that I never really followed up on in real life?). I can see how people are so divided on it, you either get this type of game or you don't.swn13
yup persiesly but if you even think you are going to like it go out on a whim and get it that is what i did and i love it

yes, i was on the fence about whether i should get this game or not, and i'm SO glad i did, I think this is JUST the wii game i'll be using even years from now if i ever just want to relax and take some pressure off myself, it's just plain enjoyable

After reading and reading and reading about this game, I went to the store and picked it up today...and I must say I wasn't disapointed, the boat graphics weren't even close to as bad as I was expecting, the shadows are HORRIBLE but overall they're not so bad that your cornia gets bruised from trying to take in the ugly graphics.

After sinking in 6 straight hours of play on my first go at it, exploring maybe 1/4th of the ocean, I found it to be amazingly relaxing, refreashing and just left me thinking, why aren't there MORE fresh games like this out there? I'm getting pretty tired of the same old spin offs and same old formula for games getting repeated. This game feels like a breath of fresh air compared to what's out there. It's somthing you can just pop in after a stressful day and just...reeelax....8)

What do you guys think? Agree with me? or disagree?

This graph shows all sales starting from the launch of the wii, seeing this chart really puts into perspective how well it is doing.

http://vgchartz.com/hwlaunch.php?cons1=Wii®1=All&cons2=PS3®2=All&cons3=X360®3=All&weeks=52

Makes me excited for 3rd party game support, and glad to be a Wii launch day owner!8)
