Their still isn't a good (let alone great) racing series for PS3 to call it's own.

Oh god. This is karma coming to bite me in the ass.

So I decided that I wanted to get a system with HD gaming/movies and had to choose between the Xbox360 and the PS3.

I opted for the PS3 as the Xbox360 was riddled with overheating/disc reading/scratching problems and the rumors of the new Zephyr box really turned me off. (Yes, it's a silly excuse. But if I shell out the dough, I want the best system that company has to offer for that particular generation)

So I got the PS3. Setup was a breeze. Gaming was fantastic (only have the Marvel game thus far). Bluray DVD playback with the HDMI cable was PHENOMENAL!

The one blip was that halfway through "The Departed", my PS3 froze for 5 seconds. It was completely unresponsive to any controller button mashing. After those 5 seconds though, I hit start and it was fine again.

I figured one blip was no small deal.

But when I tried finishing the movie today, it happened 5 times! All presenting with the same problem. Freezing with no response for 5 seconds. Hit start and then everything is fine again.

My question to all of you is this:

1) Is this a hardware problem? Do I need to return my PS3 for one that isn't faulty?

2) Is this a software problem? Is this just a growing pain that I have to live with until it's fixed by the next system update? (I've heard rumors that stated early patches of the PS3 firmware didn't really have smooth Bluray playback and it has been improved greatly since the release of the system)

Thanks so much for the help!

I've contacted Sony about this but I figure this is another great source of information.

[QUOTE="walton13"]its a BAD BAD idea to release it on march 23, imagine at least 3 million people trying to download it... at the same time, it would take HOURS lolThe_Rick_14
Then don't be dumb and get it from Sony's website from your computer.

Why doesn't Sony just launch European PS3's with the latest firmware update?  I think thats what they'll do anyway

[QUOTE="Warfust"][QUOTE="Tony-Baxter"][QUOTE="iammason"]:|.... It's still got a huge lead.

It's losing more of that lead every month.

Ummmm, actually it's lead is still increasing (hence the sales numbers).

Increasing everywhere but Japan.

[QUOTE="lilrush"]And the 360 released when? 05. and the PS3 when? 06. Therefore your argument dies. 360 dev kits have been out longer and devs have had way longer to develop games. /thread

Yet when i compare launch games vs launch games you cry "Teh standards are higher now"

That's nice. Compare games for a system that's been out for longer, and had developer kits out for much longer.Ibacai

Ok...So if i compare the first 4 months of 360 games vs the first 4 months of PS3 you cows cry "but but teh standards are higher now".....If i compare the last 4 months of 360 games vs the last 4 months of PS3 games you cows cry "but but 360 has been out longer, devs are more familiar now"....Make your damn minds c0ws, you can't eat your cake and have it too.
