[QUOTE="LanceUppercut77"]Once again, are these sales numbers including the sales of the Talladega Nights disc that comes with the PS3?Darth matt
Man that would be a good promotional scam. Give away thousands of free movies, then use it to help prop up your sales figures, with a little help from Joe Consumer actually buying movies of course ;) . "Shake and bake!"

Best Buy has also had 2 "Buy one get one free" bluray movie promotions.  And Frys is running a "buy one get one free promotion" for bluray movies right now.

Universal announces over 100 movies for 2007, including the highly criticaly acclaimed "Children of Men"

http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/pressrelease_universal2007hddvd.html

So much for "Bluray has won, Universal announces no new movies at CES"...

gizmo_logix

Although, I don't agree with the inflammatory nature of the thread title claiming instant victory. The 100 movie announcement from Universal was speculated even by the guys at avsforum and highdef digests during CES (I seem to remember reading this a couple weeks ago too). So, it was expected that Universal would wait until January/Febuary to annouce their movie list. Even after hearing whispers about this during CES I wondered what Columbia, TriStar, MGM, FOX, Lionsgate, Warner, Buena Vista, Paramount, HBO, New Line, Magnolia would release on Blu-ray in 2007? Maybe, just maybe, more than 100? Yeah, I think so too.

You make it sound as if Universal is the only studio releasing HD-DVD's in 2007. But anyway, all im pointing out is that the title of this thread was very dumb, and begging of self ownage..

I was addressing, "Universal announces over 100 movies for 2007." Universal being the only one that release for only hd dvd. That's all. If you had stated the other studios. -- even the ones that make for hd dvd -- well, that adds to blu-ray too. So, I don't think you'd want to say that in your post with the Uni announcement. I agree the thread title is misleading. Just like "the PS3 is dead" threads.

Ok, but why mention Warner, Paramount, HBO, New Line, and Magnolia when they support HD-DVD as well? And its not just Universal which is exclusive, there is also The Weinstein Co. and Studio Canal in Europe.

Studio Canal is huge, with over 5000 releases in Europe.

You can get Rambo, Rambo 2, Rambo 3, Terminator, Basic Instinct, Total Recall, The Prestige, Point Blank, Saw, Saw 2, Underworld and many more so called "Bluray exclusives" for HD-DVD right now...

Because you left that part out. By all means. Please...keep talking about "Warner, Paramount, HBO, New Line, and Magnolia." It doesn't hurt Blu-ray. :D Or rather, Blu-ray gets ahead. And hd dvd hangs on for now. Oh, and you better check that list of yours... Just casually glancing at those that you listed...Basic Instinct 2 and Underworld is Sony Pictures. Not sure about the others. But I can't find them. The only part of "get them NOW" that's right is if you are taking about Blu-ray! As in get them NOW on amazon.com and dvdempire.com. Not so for hd dvd. Check yourself. re: Rambo, Rambo 2, Rambo 3, Terminator, Total Recall, The Prestige, Saw, Saw 2

So i was wrong...Underworld is not yet available for HD-DVD,  but its coming...
