Both consoles game linups are meh. But meh in 1080p is a hell of a lot better then meh in last gen lol 720p.

This generation of consoles are not sporting high tier hardware and have to wait for the software to catch up. Optimization is not a magic pill that magically allows consoles to perform great without taking hits on quality and assets.

This is not the PS3 where devs had to figure out to allocate the unused SPE cores to augment RSX to allow the console to be able to compete with the 360. Nor having to wait until games were able to use the 360's unified shader based gpu correctly and its triple core cpu. These console are using low tier x86 cpu's with low to mid ranged tier gpu's based on pc gpu's. These new consoles do not have to wait on the software to make use of the hardware since their abilities and API's are pc standards that have been in use for years prior. While we will see new features and after a period time new ways to allocate resources to do things better which will allow then squeeze abit more out of the systems. Dont expect differences nor optimization to allow these consoles to be able to compete at same quality or resolutions as gpu's that are multiple times faster.

Its no different from comparing the PS3 or 360 vs the old Geforce 8800's even to this day , those gpu still outclass those consoles graphically. And those gpu's were also only 3x faster but yet console optimization has yet been able to compete with those gpu's yet that 3x the performance allows 2-3x the fps, more effects , and resolutions.

lol on the PS4 GDDR5 making a difference with graphics power, that 8gb isnt 8gb solely for gaming only 4.5gb is only able to be used and that has to be split up between game cache and vram, which means on average only expect 3gb usage. the R290x has dedicated 4gb of 512bit GDDR5 with a bandwidth of 320 GB/s vs PS4's ~3gb 256bit GDDR5 with 176gb/s...
