I'm sorry to say we will never end prejudice.. It's all very well thinking that one day we will all live in a homogenised utopian society with no boundaries between race, gender, sexual orientation, etc but it ain't ever going to happen. The very notion of 'equality' is the thing that will keep causing problems, the idea that people are all the same when clearly they are not. You can't dictate what people should think and how they should feel. As above, the best way to combat this is to grow a thick skin. People in general can be assholes, especially on the Internet. The only way this will ever be resolved is if people learn to accept that another person is entitled to their own opinion and rise above letting it bother them. Once people who intentionally set out to upset other people learn that their words have no power or effect, only then might we be able to move forward.

Interesting show! Of course it's nothing like the complexity of human memory, but if you take the case of the cuckoo, how does a cuckoo instinctively know how to idenditify a mate and lay its egg in another birds nest if not from some sort of inherited memory? It never sees it's parents so shouldnt know what another cuckoo looks like. Then there's the megapode. Those birds build very complicated mound nests, lay their eggs and leave the offspring to their own devices. The chicks hatch fully formed (and ready to fly in some species) and instinctively know how build their own complicated nest when the time comes. Lots of animals lay eggs and abandon them, I highlighted the above because they also inherit complicated behaviour patterns alongside simply knowing what species they are, but I suppose you could ask how any animal instinctively knows to how to behave like the animal it is and choose the right mate without being taught by a parent and being able to identify (imprint) itself on a mature member of its own species..

@19James89 @malintenby It's nothing special, just the same sort of generic action film ending you'd get from a film back in the days when you were allowed to be male and enjoy something for what it is. You know, explosions, a lot of folk getting shot and the hero ends up with the stunning girl with nice breasts?

I'm a 35 year old heterosexual male who likes fast cars, shooting games and pretty women. WHAT'S WRONG WITH THAT?? I'm getting pretty tired of people trying to apply a set of rules that apply evenly to everyone. The human race is not a sea of like for like clones with the same tastes in everything. This game is clearly targeted at a certain audience. If you're not happy with that then its simply a case of not playing it and leaving the review to someone who can accept it instead of abusing your position as a reviewer on a very prominent gaming website to bash a section of society you obviously have a problem with..

@Gargus Totally agree.. I'm all for equality in the workplace and in general, but IMO it's all gone too far the other way.. If you are a woman, a homosexual or a member of an ethnic minority in today's society your opinion stands a far greater chance of being heard when you have an axe to grind.. Equality only works when it is applied equally, and unfortunately it's not the case.. Of course even daring to raise your head above the parapet and speak the truth on this subject will inevitably lead to accusations of you committing some sort of hate crime..

Tom is so wrong with his interpretation of the characters and setting of this game.. He's obviously decided Joel is a bad person and let it colour his opinion for the rest of the game because he works late and came home tired. A ridiculous interpretation obviously made by a person who has never experienced hard work for long hours himself or in the people around him. It's totally normal for someone who's been working hard to come home and act the way Joel did. For all we know the man has got a physically demanding job in the oil industry with the setting being Texas and it would certainly explain the fact why he's a big guy. Having worked in a physical job myself and been in a family where it's the norm, it's totally understandable and realistic the way he comes home and seems totally uninterested in anything apart from putting his backside on the sofa to rest. I totally disagreed with most things he said in his review of the game and after watching that above, I think he should maybe stick to reviewing Mario games or something similarly fluffy because he is obviously way out of his depth with a game like this which goes so deep, and explores the intricacies of human behaviour on such a level that no other game has ever come close to doing.

People keep buying them in spades so they must be doing something right.. Nintendo have survived so long as a console maker in the face of technically superior opposition mostly because they have a hardcore base of fans who like what they do. It's been the strength of their franchises and legacy characters that have kept them afloat, and they'll need them more now than ever because the boost that the novelty factor of the Wii control scheme gave them is all but over..

I can't say I agree with this review at all on most points, did the reviewer actually play the game in full?

@NetGod @malintenby I'm not trying to convince anybody to buy anything, I genuinely want there to be a proper console war between two equally matched machines because it will lead to better games for all of us in the long run as each tries to better the other. I am merely offering my opinion, which is what this section of the site is about is it not?

I take it you live by yourself from your above comments? Maybe you would feel a little different if you had the privacy of a partner and/or children to consider as well as your own?
