[QUOTE="EmperorSupreme"]I agree, by the way try LBP, your wife will love it. You can do Coop play through the story online or offline. LBP IS BORING AFTER A WHILE.I have both and definetly PS3. Once you get a PS3 it's very hard to even turn the Wii on. PS3 is a better system in every way. More games, superior online, more functions, better graphics, sound, etc.. Everything on PS3 is higher quality
edit: About your wife, if she's not into gaming now I don't think the Wii will do it for her. I bought the Wii thinking my wife would like it as well and she hates the motion controls. She actually prefers the PS3. Her favorite games are Buzz Quiz and Rockband.

You need to decide, if you want your wife to get into gaming, buy her either a DS or a Wii, PS3 is not really for girls unless you and your wife likes Singstar games. I love blu ray too, but think its a bit too costly to enter my home just yet, I'D probably go for a stand alone player in a few months considering what the blu ray market would be like IN America and Japan. I've tried the ps3 and didnt think it was for me, so i tried the DS and loved it my wife did too and i also bought the Wii which is fun with the family. I'M a casual gamer sometimes and can be hardcore sometimes too coz the Wii and DS does have hardcore titles too and have an interesting lineup for 2009.Before everyone starts 'flaming' or saying 'not another one of these topics,' please hear me out.
-I am on a tight budget, and can only buy one system, and one system only for a very long time (if not indefinitely).
-Tight budget, so price of hardware and games plays a big factor.
-My choices are Wii or PS3, I am not interested in 360 at all.
-I have an HDTV, and would like to have a blue-ray player.
-I love RPGs, but have become accustomed to casual play as well.
-I consider myself a Final Fantasy fanboy.
-I like Mario, but not particularly interested.
-Not too interested in FPS, nor "party games."
-I would like to get my wife into gaming as well, and think that the Wii may be a great possibility.
I know different consoles are more 'fit' for certain players than others. So, based upon my situation and preferences, which would you guys pick if you were under my situation. I have no experience with these consoles other than playing Wii sports for 5 minutes, and thoroughly enjoying it (even for that 5 mintues). Thank you for hearing me out.

PS3, aweful menu system and look.
The PS1 will always remain the better system in my heart. The games always have better gameplay and more content that that of the PS2 or PS3 games, especially since all the PS3 launch titles sound like crap, but look good because of their graphics... The new games lately, have more fillers than a Mcdonalds Chicken Sandwich and that's saying something.
If blu ray does warrant my wallet than i would go for a stand alone player :) i.e Panasonic.
PS3 Doesnt do it for me, just has ps2 didnt do it for me, however got to say ps1 was the best.

Lets see biggest disappointment
PS3, Games library, the lack of, Blu Ray ( Not sure if it will take off, judging by the UMD ON PSP), The Controller ( Huge disappointment) oh and the price.
Wii, Ace innovation, BUT NEEDS more good games, from third party developers. Dont get me wrong I've played games on their that would trounce PS3 Titles and Xbox360 games and are more fun to play with.
Xbox360, Lacks games that I like even if its got a big game library. I DONT LIKE the design of the 360, the noise it makes and the standby mode uses too much power consumption like the ps3. Online is also not free, which is a bomber.
[QUOTE="manziny"]not really most pple i kno, jus use their ps3 has a blu ray player, nought else. Wii delievered with more fun.[QUOTE="tmntPunchout"]It delivered on pretty much everything and the other consoles didn't. Does that make a difference?tmntPunchout
Don't blurays contribute to the year of the PS3 then since they can be used on the PS3 and not 360?
Again you say it delievered on everything. I use to own a ps2, and i only played it for games, their DVD PLAYER was crap, i opted for a stanalone player which was well worth the investment. As for Blu ray, when the prices come down, and Blu ray becomes the next best shabang. Im pretty sure the public would opt for a stand alone and a more reliable Blu ray player, hence ps3 player would become deadwood.
