unless you buy the Wii zapper, Wii wheel, etc. the stupid plastic attachments really add to the price.

The Wii Wheel comes with Mario Kart, so it's free, and you do not need the Zapper at all.

true, but If you want to play local multiplayer, which is basically the point of this thread, you need more wii wheels if you want everyone to have the same experience. and the wii zapper really does help with aiming in FPS's on the Wii. it shouldn't, but it does.

EDIT: Plus, it's not free, the game costs $10 more. you get the wheel half off in the combo.

everything you just said is true, but the thing is, the Wii motion plus isn't necessary, and only works with a few games so far. so, if you add the cost of the two parts of the controller together, you total US $50 (idk what that translates to in pounds, sorry) which is the price of the controllers for the other two systems too. so, If you want 4-way local multiplayer enabled, it's gonna cost $150 on any system, and coupled with the lower price of the system, still $100 less than the competition, and the cheaper games, $10 less than the other two systems, the Wii is actually still the cheapest option.

I think the Wii motion plus is needed. My brother got the Super Mario Bros game ( the new one) and it said unless he bought motion plus he would only be able to play something like 2 or 3 of the worlds. And over here in the UK the Wii is more expensive than the Xbox 360 Arcade model. Also the combined cost of just the remote and nunchuck is £41 (thereabouts) while you can get a wireless 360 controller for £29.99 and a PS3 wireless controller for £34.99 so its cheaper over here.

first of all...say what? wii motion plus for a game that should be able to be played with the classic controller (what was up with that btw, nintendo...u trying to let us all down?) and second of all, where do you shop that you can get PS3 and X360 controllers for less than US $50? i mean, reputable retailers, not ebay. and I'm not being sarcastic, I would like to save some cash for games when I get my PS3.

EDIT: about the arcade model thing... over here, their the same price, but If you're really getting an XBOX 360, with the best online system available on a console, who would be willing to sacrifice that? i mean, online multiplayer practically makes the X360. Plus, no hard drive and no ability to install your own, so long load times and no multimedia abilities. ill pay the extra $100 for an Elite, tyvm. and the middle option is still good, only $50 more. inbetween the two prices.

My launch 360 doesn't have a HDMI port, so thats how I play 360 without HDMI.R3FURBISHED

you still have a launch 360? it hasn't RROD'ed yet? count your blessings, buddy, but the day is coming. :P

Anyways, X360, and even PS3, look fine on SD-TVs and with composite cables. not stellar, but hey, its a video game. not a movie. as long as you can see what you're doing just fine, you shouldn't have a problem. and also, aren't A, B, X, and Y the buttons on the controller? so, without HD cables, you cant see your controller? wuh-oh...

Isn't gameplay far more important?

monkeytoes61

so if someone released a game with graphics like the original PAC-MAN, and it was a fully priced $60 HD Multi-console game, and it turned out to have decent gameplay mechanics, you would get it? an HD game that looked like PAC-MAN? c'mon, of course graphics matter, just not quite as much. Plus, nowadays, there seems to be a direct correlation between graphics and quality. notice how many Wii games suck, and most games that are projected to be good on PS3 and X360 are at the very least decent?

I don't even have an X360 and I'm anxious for Mass Effect 2. I'm just interested to see what it'll be like.

I would laugh if nintendo revealed a console more powerful than both ms and sony's.TheDuffman26
Nintendo has already stated many times that they are not going to be a contender for the graphics title, they just want to make high-quality games that appeal to a wide range of audiences. the chances of Nintendo releasing a powerful system are extremely small. I men, think about it: N64 was the last system to use cartridges, GC didn't use full sized disks, it used those stupid mini-DVDs, and the Wii has no real hard drive, just a built-in memory card. Nintendo has never been about the best technology, just about making fun games. but yeah, that would be pretty funny, if for the past 20 years Nintendo has just been stringing us along ;)

Nintendo releasing a new system would not be too surprising, considering they release a new version of the DS practically every year. Sony, I doubt it, but judging by how much the PS3 is already juggling by way of hardware and the like it would not surprise me if they came out with something, perhaps a PSP GO replacement since the online-only system is going to be a total flop. M$ will probably at least issue a due date for NATAL, and perhaps even release a portable system, since they were talking about how effective the streaming of the PSP and PS3 was. however, due to the fact that M$ cannot keep a secret, we would probably already know about such a device, so perhaps not. but I personally think 2010 will be a year for handhelds when they are not needed.

I agree, more of an RPG-based Zelda would be fun. but, at this point it might be too late for them to incorporate it, so I guess we just have to wish for the best.
