adblock has over 15 million users, and then we have adblock plus as well, with I do not know how many million more. Of those millions I am rather confident that the same demographic you are trying to market to is overly represented compared to other demographics..
How many of those users will come here, try to watch a video, not get it to load and never get exposed to the fact that adblock is the reason the video is fubar'd? How many more simply will move on and find another outlet instead of having to dig into various settings in adblock just to make an exception for this site? How many will just be ticked off and leave just because of the principle of it?
You might want to rethink this move through a tad more IMO. While you are at it, let us be able to easily browse upcoming game releases by platform and by week again, and let us be able to see further than a few weeks into the future.
Between the adblock-blocked vids and not being able to easily access info on new releases you have killed the two most important things that draw me to this site. I might check back in a week or so and see if you are listening to the criticism, but I have started to cheat on you, I do not like how you have changed, and I might not be coming back unless we can work this out.
I miss being able to quickly and easily look at release dates for upcoming games. At least bring back a similar functionality to this portion. That is one of the main things I kept tabs on here at Gamespot. it was a simple interface that let me see what games are to be released in the future and when,
Now it seems all I can do is see a default selection maybe two weeks out, and although I have not delved into it I would have to manually put in start and end dates into the search function to look. This seems to be taking many steps backwards and turning what was clean and readily accessible information into a clunky and unwieldy endeavor.
Frankly I would rather not have to jump through the extra hoops to access what was one of the primary reasons for me coming to this site.
@Dsolow5 I completely agree on the immense disappointment of DA2. Reading this gives me a glimmer of hope.
The frenetic button mashing combat was one of the biggest turn-offs for me with DA2. I want a tactical battle, Origins delivered this and was why I thought it was a fantastic game for it. Then the sequel came and it was just a button mashing console frenzy of combat. I not only felt let down, I felt betrayed.
I cannot begin to tell you how many games that I have downloaded and then played for less than an hour before deciding it was not for me. Then every now and then I try out a game that sucks me in, when this happens I tell friends, and i buy a legitimate copy for myself. This frequently extends to games I would have never been exposed to had I not seen it listed at some torrent site.
Heck, I have friends with children - I have even recommended games for them that I would have never played for myself - all because I saw it, downloaded it, tried it for a brief while, and realized that their kids would probably like this.
Now I am not making the claim that everyone who downloads cracked versions of a game are like this, but it is not a rarity, and I use myself as an anecdotal example of how in some circumstances the free exposure and the word of mouth can and does have a positive effect that mitigates (at least partially) the damage done by these so-claimed "lost sales"
Wow, I just noticed something else in the article. 15 million in game hours and 5,7 million cities?
That is less than 3 hours per city? That is ridiculous In previous Sim City incarnations the city you built was your pride and joy, one that you would spend days if not weeks if in game time building just one city.
F- that glad I did not buy into Disposable city for yet another reason now.
Geez, poor little Ea, wonder why you cannot make enough money to keep your shareholders happy? ?
Perhaps it might have something to do with alienating, ignoring and basically kicking your potential customers in the face to the point that you are loathed by a very significant portion of them?
Moral of the story is: Don't bite the hand that feeds you.
@krbrown10 If there was concern for the customer and they were not so thoroughly despised by so many potential customers, then there is a very good chance that they would have made enough money to keep all satiated,
Cannot see the forest through the trees. do not bite the hand that feeds you ect. Poor decisions and alienating such a large swath of the consumers of your product to the point that they loathe you is not too bright.
Wow the fuckups surrounding this game just keep getting worse and worse. The deeper you dig, the more fake this game (and all that it entails including piss poor decisions and lies from the PR dept)is. It is one grand illusion, that unfortunately has snowed way too many people.
This game is going to live in infamy, and this is so sad because the series was one of my favorites for decades.
Let the outrage foment, you are deserving of no less for this travesty.
