Southeast Asia has by far the fastest growing middle-class population. Every day, tens of thousands there become middle-class. However, many can't yet afford a $400-$500 console, but they have some disposable income to now throw around. A cheaper console would sell. These emerging economies are the future and have been largely untapped. The US middle-class is on the decline. Nintendo could corner emerging markets, build solid brand loyalty, and sell more expensive consoles in those regions in the future. This is a great move, and Nintendo has the sort of properties and ability to make awesome games that don't have to have maxed out graphics to be interesting. Nin. is also centrally located to take advantaged.

Konami, please make a new 2-D game for download on home console--not a remake. 2.5-D but with PS4-quality graphics.

It seems to be just like the Wii version, just in HD. I own the Wii version but have little interest in this because I feel like I already own it. You'll like it if you love DK, but I would be more interested if the formula had evolved a bit. Mario 3 was like Mario 1, but it upgraded in every possible way.

Do you all remember, last summer, when MS stated that because of the power of the cloud, the One would be the last console you would ever need to buy? They also stated that over 1 billion consoles would be sold this generation. Lets see, Wii U=30 million, Vita=20 million, 3DS=100 million, PS4=100 million, so I guess the One will generate 750 million sales. Although, I guess MS foresees this as a permanent gen., since the Cloud will render future gens. pointless. Somehow the Cloud will allow you to download patches that will forever increase the hardware prowess of the One. No need to buy a PS5 in six years because the One will just auto. update to become even more powerful. The MS Cloud can also climb Mount Everest and run the 40 in 2.8. Summer 13' was the Summer of the Xbot making all kinds of crazy claims about the Cloud. Now that the reality has set in, that the One can't even max out 10 year-old HDTV tech, the Cloud claims have dried up. The One has moved 3 million units, just 747 million to go...

I loved this game over 20 years ago, but lack of of online features/modes is disappointing. This game should be tailor made for on-line competition. I still want it but not for 15 bucks.

The Wii sold 100 million. That is more than all the consoles and handhelds Sega ever sold combined. Nintendo has sold over 700 million systems. Nintendo is not Sega for many reasons. Sony and MS see a long-term threat. Nintendo could be on top again next gen. Also, Wii u at 249 with choice of free smash or cart Xmas 14 will be a good 2nd console choice. Also, many people can't afford 4-500 bucks, so perceived value will help.

The problem with both consoles is that they are limited to the 1080p format. Even if both systems were maxed at 1080p 60fps, which they aren't in most games, they are still tied to a dying display format. 1080p is on its way out. By 2017, 4k will own a majority of the market share. By 2018, PC gaming in 4k will be standard. The new consoles are trying to hard to be like PC as it is now. The attempt will be laughable in a few years as the difference between PC 4k output and console 1080p output will represent the widest gap between console and pc graphics in history. So many graphical concessions are having to be made as it currently stands at 1080p. "The cloud makes the systems potential limitless...." No, the systems will die along with the 1080p format. 1080 is on its way out. Nintendo claimed that most people still had SD TVs when the Wii was released in 2006. By 2011, HD had taken complete control of the market, and the Wii was done for--five years of life. 4k TVs were 30k not too long ago. Now, high-end 4k is about 3-4k. In a few years, it will be about 1k. By 2018, 1080p will be dead. These new consoles have 5-years of life in them. The cloud or development tricks wont be able to overcompensate for this. How will systems that struggle to do 1080p, in many games, be able to survive 4k, and 4k will only get much better in time. There will be awesome games for both 360 and ps3 for several years to come. Just keep playing those systems, and save up to buy your new TV and much-more upgraded system in a few years. By the time it is really time to move on, you will have bought a TV that destroys your current one. Then, the new generation of 4k consoles will be right around-the-corner. By 17, it will be very clear that another upgrade is needed. Those systems PS5 and Xbox? will be huge upgrades that will have very-long life-cycles. They will be tied to a new display format that will last at least a decade. PS4 and the One are only stopgap measures to play a little catch-up with PC until the new dominate display format takes hold.
