depending on your viewing distance the resolution may be totally irrelevant. may i recommend you this panasonic plasma which when on sale you can get anywhere from 440-500 depending on the sale:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Panasonic+-+VIERA+42"+****/+720p+/+600Hz+/+Plasma+HDTV/9770484.p?id=1218170522194&skuId=9770484&st=Panasonic%20TC-P42C2&cp=1&lp=1

i really wouldn't recommend you the dynex or insignia because they are best buy in house brands and are not really all that good. the panasonic is also very good when it comes to image retention; which not a big deal these days but can be annoying to some.

even though the lcd in your post has better resolution if you were going to pick one i would highly recommend the plasma. it would have better colors, deeper blacks, and less input lag which since you're playing xbox on it i would deem important.

i stopped taking you seriously at "the music is bad." you're only 3 hours in of a game with around a 70 hour story mode. either way, later on in the game when the difficulty does increase it's more about switching paradigms rather than using potions.

hm, thanks guys. so i assume panasonic > lg in terms of plasmas? (please forgive my lack of knowledge on the subject) another question i have is that if plasmas are good for gaming. i've heard people tell me that they are horrible for gaming because of ghosting and screen burn-in, but i don't listen to everything i hear because most of the time people are over exaggerating.

[QUOTE="Mkavanaugh77"]I know the Samsung Plasmas have alot of problems with loud BUZZING noises , but they do have some of the best picture quality. Dunno about LG or Panasonic though

well, i guess i'll start off by saying when it comes to televisions and other electronics i'm not very educated. so, in a few months i'll be going out for a new tv and want to get a decent one, and was wondering what are the best tv brands? i know that there are obvious lower tier ones like dynex, and higher tier ones like panasonic, sony, and samsung. so if you guys could, just list me some of the better television brands. thanks.

Personally i would say look for tv specs before the brand when looking for a new HDTV. For example, lets say you see a cheap Vizio (the ones they sell at walmart) with 1080p, hdmi inputs, high contrast ratio against a sony that has 1080i, no hdmi input and low contrast ration..which one is the best one? the vizio because of its specs not its brand. So make sure you compare specs between tvs such as 1080p, hdmi inputs, high contrast ratio, power consumption, lcd vs plasma. Here is a good link that defines many HDTV terms and what to look for: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-DyenicOGkQU/learn/learningcenter/home/tv_glossary.html

thanks for the informative post
