Umm you will also be buying a new motherboard also if you need to switch from ddr1 to ddr2aft_lizard01

Yeah i know to keep the cost a little bit lower im going with a msi P965 NEO which almost keeps up with the better mobo's just falls a little behind in memory performance and hard drive performance but not a big deal.

Also one more question is my currant 3.2 p4 Bottlenecking my 7900 gt ko?

If i go from a p4 640 3.2Ghz 2Mb cache to a C2D e6300, i also have a 7900gt ko and i would also have to switch my ram from ddr1 pc3200 to ddr2 pc5400 just wanted to know if i would see a noticable difference in gaming and general desktop performance.

[QUOTE="maverick198404"]i just wanted to know cause im doing an upgrade tomarrow and was curious wether the ddr2 ram im getting will make a difference.ch5richards
Well most motherboards can't support both ddr and ddr2. So unless you motherboard supports both, you need the one that will work with you motherboard.

yeah i forgot to mention im upgrading my processor and mobo also from 3.0 ghz prescott to c2d e6300 so i need ddr2  now.

[QUOTE="maverick198404"]well if you had to choose one which would you think would give better performance for gaming?Killfox
I would rather have a C2D. Just save like $80 more and get 8800GTS.

well to get the 8800gts i would have to save 200 more not 80 more because the 8800 cost 400 canadian and im sure the guy im taking it to wouldnt give me more then 200 for my 7900gt ko.

intel prescott 651 @3.6ghz with 2Mb Cache paired with an 8800GTS 320Mb and 1 gig ddr ram/pc3200

OR

Core 2 Duo e6300 paired with 7900GT KO 256Mb and 1 gig ddr2 ram.

thoughts would be appreciated, also the bottom option is about 50-60 bucks more $$$ because i would need to change ram and mobo so what u guys think?

Hey guys i have a P4 prescott 3.0 Ghz 2mb cache and a 7900 gt ko and was thinking about upgrading since i got my tax refund and my question was would it be better for me to upgrade to a core 2 duo e6300 which would cost me around $355 with my trade in and everything or should i get an 8800gts and just upgrade my processor to a prescott 3.4 Ghz and overclock it a bit, note that it would only cost me around 280-300$ for vid card upgrade and 355$ for core 2 duo, so what do u guys think which way should i go, any thoughts are appreciated ty, also if some of you are thinking why does the vid card cost less then cpu its because my 7900gt ko has alot more value then my p4 630 and i would need to trade old mobo and ram for new mobo and ram.

Sry forgot to write that's canadian dollars.
