Yes, but you aren't considering that Xbox Live is going to be used, and accessories are going to be purchased. It's more than Software here.

The whole reason they want to go buy a new console is to use Xbox Live.

Why would they buy new accessories? and if they use XBL they are just replacing the ones they had before. I just don't see the monumental gain to warrant the conspiracy theory. Also MS is now turning a profit on hardware as of early last year, but I don't know by how much.
