Are we going to be able to completely wander around freely with any of the three characters?

I don't understand how this is going to work given the potential complexities around all this character changing?

One of the most enticing things for me is the ability to just wander off and do anything I want and go anywhere I want whilst doing loads of side missions that take me all over the place
