The game looks like its trying to be a mix of GOW and Dantes inferno. It isn't out so I can't fully judge it but based on what I saw, it ain't looking good.

The purpose of a UI is to get you to the system functionality you want to expose quickly and clearly with minimal fuss. The PS3 succeeds there. In fact, if you're spending a lot of timefiddling with aUI instead of actually doing things on a system that indicates a failure of the UI, so no the fact that PS3 owners DON'T spend much time on the UI indicates that it is working well.

erm, I was under the impression that the fun of a gaming platform was actually playing a game? If you're looking to the UI to have fun, then the gaming system failed at what it should be doing, or you failed at realizing what you bought. The UI is there as a nice way to show the features, it is not a game in itself. Being functional is highly preferred over being overrun with flash and nonsense. Functional gets you to the point faster which is gaming,purchasing games,dlc, watching movies etc... Not to mention the ability to use different themes to customize the way the XMB looks is very nice. If you are having trouble getting to features on the XMB, you have your screen turned off or no thumbs on your hands.

I preferred the blades for this very reason, was direct and to the point and looked fine. Stupid Wii copy cat avatars that stand like girls even if you pick a male ,and ads, and a billion menus is not necessary.

The XMB is fine, its fast and simple. Plus there are tons of great themes to use.

360 use to have to best UI until they changed it 3 times...I wish they would bring back the Blades, or at least give you an option to use it again.

meh at the start of this gen Sony and MS were doing the same thing. It didnt happen. All the companies lie to get your money. If Ninty comes through great but don't hold your breath. Just remember the Wii was supposed to be more powerful than Xbox and GC and, still waiting for that to happen.

You consolites just don't get it. Stop turning this into "gaming experience" "it looks good to me" etc. 1024x768 used to be considered a high resolution. "High definition" is a TV marketing tool that people have just bought into. Howver High Definition is really just talking about resolution. Plain and simple. Today's technology allows for much higher than 1024x768 and that is not considered high resolution anymore. Neither is 1280x720. That is a relatively low resolution. So again, consoles are not HD anymore. Trying to predicate that it is based on TV/movies is pointless because we are on a gaming forum. Gamers can play resolutions much much higher and the reality is that 1280x720 is one of the lowest resolutions PC gaming enthusiasts would play at; and not a preferable one rather just a symptom of needing to upgrade components. The difference between 720p and 1080p is over double the pixels. That is significant. In another decade 1080p will be used as a barometer of CPU bottlenecking tests to eliminate the GPU stress much like 1280x768 is today. So "HD" is nto static and it's definition will change. It hasn't changed on "Wiki" pages because:

1. Most people are stupid

2. HD is generally marketed for televisions and HD TV is still using resolutions of 720p and 1080p for blu-ray movies.

Howver for gamers, 1280x720 is more outdated than 1024x768 from over a decade ago. So while they "look HD to you" that is only because, as the other people have aptly put; you have low expectations. If all you are comparing is how Mario Galaxy looks compared to your old Mario 64 or how Killzone 2 looks to the original Killzone, of course you are going to think it's HD because it is HD to you. It doesn't change the fact that PC reviewers use that as the baseline low resolution to test CPU bottlenecking. Just as a 2001 cobra was considered fast; it isn't anymore to sports car enthusiasts. In 2003 it came with 390 (underrated). In 2013 it pushes 650hp. Standards CHANGE. I know that is very hard for consolites to get through their relatively hollow yet THICK skulls being that they are used to close-ended gaming for 8 years...but I ain't LION. Standards Change. 720p is LOW resolution. Stay Jelly, Say Mad, and please, Stay in the Matrix because you clearly aren't waking up.

so what you're saying is, 720p is HD for movies and tv shows, but not HD for games? Did not know there was such a thing as conditional HD. How versatile is 720p that it can be HD and not HD depending on the circumstances. Poor 1080p is stuck in one state, or is it? there is 4K now, so when games are at 4K 1080P will be in 720p's shoes and poor 720p will be black and white.

When the standards change and they name 720 as SD, and not HD anymore, then you will have a point. That hasn't happened. 720P is still HD no matter how you try and spin it. Gamers are not the deciding factor when it comes to this. It doesn't matter what you believe or consider, right now 720p is HD.

Not really a fan of the series so not keeping an eye on it. It could surprise me like MGS4 did though so I won't dismiss it.

Vanquish > Gears of War 1 > Space Marine > every other TPS.

No, it's not. 720p was HD 7 years ago and 30fps is laughable, Even my Core 2 Duo and HD 4870 runs Crysis well above 30fps at 1080p (Real HD)
