I'm gonna recommend Risen. it's my favourite recent PC game. Really interesting world, and more interactive than I figured it would be. Sucked me in pretty easily.
I'm also completely addicted to Modern Warfare 2, but I'm playing it on 360.

I REALLY like the footage of the witcher, that looks like my kind of game. I like games with upgradable gear and leveling. I also like that warhammer game BUT I noticed both games require windows XP and i have windows 7. Am I now VERY limited to what I can buy?

What are you talking about? I have said BUY through this whole thread and wouldnt know how to pirate a game if I wanted to.
Yes, it is a laptop. I downloaded a couple of games from steam last night. Company of heroes. Now when I go to play them nothing happens:( I press launch and nothing. Am I doing it wrong? Thanks for the suggestions again guys, I will look at some gameplay of the new suggestions now:) EDIT. I finally pressed something and it told me I am missingg files. So files went missing in the night? I hope this isnt common on this steam thing, i may just go to the store from now on. ;)

Seriously, the TC admintted he is not good with aiming with mouse and i dont think he has a very powerfull pc, or that he will start by applying the patches. So its better to start of with something simple such as mw2!! I hope its powerful. The guy at the store said it was last night :/ 2.7GHz dual core and a GTX 260M
Well I just got back from best buy and it looks like there are more games avavilable via steam so I am going to by that company of heroes set for now. I will have that and tropico 3 and that will work until I find an rpg/mmo that I want to get into. I cant thank everyone enough for all the input. Day 1 1/2 of being a PC owner and I am impressed! :) Now to figure out steam :P
