Failed launch is arguable: they set the record in the UK for most consoles sold at launch
Losing some 3rd party exclusives: that's not under Sony's control. You know, short of buying all the companies or rampantly distributing PS3s to households all over the world (for free).
Bashing from gamers: Rack that up to jealousy
Price: It's not great but considering what you're getting, it's fair.
Games: Again, not a great launch selection but like you said, they're on the way.
Home: Awesome idea.
Downloadable games for the PS3: Another awesome idea. (Not unique, I know, but still awesome)
Reliability: the key point for me. Unlike some other systems (cough trash cough), no reports of launch unit failure. Heck, no significant reports of hardware failure altogether (well, with the exception of those high-pitched whining units). Nothing is more disheartening than opening your $300-$600 toy and finding that it doesn't work well just DAYS after you bought it. How is it going to be after years of heavy gameplay?
