Greetings from Miami!

Hello everyone!  I'm here in sunny Florida.  The weather is beautiful, not too hot, not too humic, in fact I happen to think that it's paradise.  It was a freakin' long flight (a total of nearly eight hours of traveling) and then, in my lapse of judgment (or maybe I was just so tired I just didn't care) I went to a frat party.  I know, me, at a frat party.  Why is it that when I'm in a room of hot guys I end up dancing with the unattractive, overweight one?  I'll spare you the details, but it wasn't exactly the most pleasant of experiences.  I mean, he was nice and all, but the whole point of going to a frat party is 1) to get wasted (and I was so tired that I didn't need to drink to appear drunk) and 2) to hook up with some hottie.  Ah well, there will be other parties this week so hopefully they won't be all as lame (yes, I am describing a frat party as lame).

Today I went to the Everglades (and there's video that I'll post of me squeeing over aligators, of all things).  I took lots of photos, which I'll post on my deviantArt account.  I took some lovely shots of aligators and various birds.  Don't worry, I'll ID them so you're not scratching your head going, "What the hell is that thing?!"  Tomorrow is for, well, I'm not quite sure what.  I go to Key West on Tuesday (we're probably leaving that morning) and we come back on Wednesday (Key West is about a two and a half to three hour drive from here).  Thursday and Friday are pretty open to whatever (the beach!  I wanna go to the beach!), but I do know that I'm supposed to be seeing my friend Anibal at some point.  Maybe I should send him another email...meh, I'll get it figured out.

Anyway, life is good.  I have a head cold which hopefully I'll kick by the middle of the week.  I'll take lots of pictures, so don't worry, you all can see my crazy adventures (to some degree).  Hope evervyone else is having fun, too!

A New Icon and Other Random Things

Vacation countdown - 1 day

I'm almost ready.  I've packed my bags (well, mostly), picked my favorite CDs and movies, and I'm just about ready to go.  I have a huge purse so I'm going to put my personal stuff into my carry-on and pack my purse in my suitcase.  That way I can take my laptop on the plane with me, since I know I'd feel better if it traveled with me.  It's not that I'd die without my computer, but I'm much more comfortable hooking up my iPod to my computer to charge it.  Just seems like it'd be easier for me that way.  Besides, if I'm up late with jet lag, I can watch movies on my computer.  I'm bringing Howl's Moving Castle, Pride & Prejudice, and the ever faithful Monty Python and the Holy Grail.  I'm not going to be busy the whole time, but at least I know that I can pass time.  I'm also bringing Mansfield Park (the book) to read on the plane, and I'm debating on wether or not I bring Northanger Abbey as well.  There's a small chance I'll still be working on Mansfield Park the whole time, but I feel like I should bring along one more book, just in case.

Umm, nothing else up.  I changed my icon because I felt that it was time.  I like little Yuki rat in the dress, but when it's time for a change, it's time for a change.  So now I have Van, busting out of his shirt. :)  What can I say, I'm a total Van fangirl.

Oh, yes, indeed.  That reminds me.

One of my friends on YouTube thought I was a boy.  Now, for those of you who have seen pictures of me know that that's about as far from the truth as it gets.  I am a girl, I own several dresses, I can run in high heels, but I can also be a tomboy.  I dunno, this little revelation just made me laugh.

Super Happy Fun Times!

Vacation countdown - two days.

I originally thought that I was heading out of town on the 16th, but I'm actually leaving on the 17th.  Yup, I'm headed down to Miami on St. Patrick's day.  I'll be wearing my "Kiss me, I'm Irish" shirt the whole time, too.  While I am proud of my Cuban heirtage, I'm also proud of my Irish roots too, so I'll proudly wear my green and kiss anyone who is Irish too!

In other news I'm dowing Zicam like it's going out of style since my body decided that this was the week it would give into the cold I've been fighting off for the last couple of weeks.  This is not conducive to visiting my sister or her baby - of course I'm still not sure that I'm ready to deal with her yet.  I made quite the show at her wedding, being all happy and social, but I was pretty much miserable the whole time.  I should get an Oscar or a Golden Globe for the performance I put on.  She just doesn't seem to get that she hurt me very deeply and it's going to take some time before I'm ready to deal with all of the crap she feels the need to dump on to me.  She says she needs me, but what she really needs me for is dump all of her problems on.  The biggest problem I have is that I see both sides of this stupid war she started with our mother and frankly I'm not siding with one or the other.  I can see that both parties are right but both are so stubborn that they refuse to reach any kind of middle ground about it.  Not that attempts haven't been made, it just angers me that neither side, despite all of the talk about making amdends, isn't really doing diddly squat about it.  And guess who's caught  the middle.

Yup, me.

Well, I'm sick of it.  I figure that I have to live with my mother so the easiest thing for me to do is cut my sister off for the time being.  When I move out and establish my own place I'll see about trying to reconnect with my sister.

Or else I'm going to write a killer novel or a hot screenplay based on the comedy of errors that seems to be my life.

Ohmygosh!

I see it, the light at the end of the tunnel.  I applied for graduation - which means that by May I'll have my BA in History from the esteemed Washington State University.  Holy crap does time fly!

In other news I seem to have reached level 10 - which is well and good.  Keep watching that video I uploaded, since that seeems to boost my percentage by 1% daily.  Kind of nice, actually. Anyway, I was going to write more reviews since that's what I'm good at.  Plus that's a pretty good way to boost levels as it is.  I fully plan on watching some of my favorite series while taking notes - mostly Fushigi Yuugi since I can put in what insert songs were used (artist and title) and maybe other little notes worth putting in and getting my submission status a little further along as well.

Well, I'm just rambling now.  I leave for vacation in one week.  One week of blissful tropical breezes.  Miami, here I come!  Possibly Key West.  I want to be able to say that I've been to Margaritaville.

Wasting away in Margaritaville
Looking for my lost shaker of salt
Some people claim
That there's a woman to blame
But I know it's nobody's fault

Oh yes, I am ready for this.  :D

My Stupid Video

Hey, if anyone who reads this has seen my stupid video, feel free to leave stupid comments.  I appreciate feed back.  And if you want, make demands for more videos by me.  Or of me, as the case may be.

Say something to me people!!!!!

Numbah 100!

Welcome, to all who care, to my 100th blog post.  I have nothing really important to say, except that I never dreamed that I woud ever blog 100 entries on this site and please check out my new video.  That's me, playing the piano.  Playing "Zelda's Theme" actually.  Just an odd talent of mine.  I may get me playing "Ashokan Farewell" on here as well, since I'm talented like that.  I play the piano, the violin, I draw, paint, and sing.  I can do a lot.

Of course there's a lot I can't do, but that's okay.  I know my strengths and I keep to them.  And there's nothin' wrong with that.

Well, I think that about wraps things up.  I don't really have any eloquent prose to commemorate the fact that I've actually had the time to blog 100 entries, so I'll just say, hey, this is just on of many, and that I'm sure there will be plenty more to come.

Tah-Dah!

Greetings, greeting, all my loyal minions...er, friends.  It's so good see you all again and soon I will start despensing my orders...er, glad tidings for all to obey, I mean, enjoy!

Okay, enough with the stupid "I'm-Going-To-Take-Over-The-World-With-My-Minions" spiel.  It's overdone and cliche, though that hasn't stopped Hollywood, now has it?  Actually, I'm just wasting space since I'm one blog post away of logging the monumental number of 100.  Ooooo,100.  Snazzy.

I had a dental appointment, and now my braces are a lovely teal which hopefully no one will mistake for gemstones.  I got really sick of the whole, "Are those rubies in your braces?"  Why would anyone put gemstones in their braces?  They can't make things more comfortable in there, can they?

In other news I've been wasting time by reading books (lots of Jane Austen and Sherrilyn Kenyon) and learning how to play Zelda's Theme on the piano.  You know that lovely little ditty that played in the Ocarina of Time when you met up with the Princess?  Yeah, that Zelda's Theme.  Actually, it's a surprisingly (or not) simple arrangement that I've nearly mastered.  However finding a good leaving off point is difficult - seeing as the music was written with the intent of repeating over and over and over and over and over and over and *smack!* over again.  Just stopping sounds strange.  I'm thinking of having my little sister use her digital camera that can also shoot short movies (with audio) record me doing it and then post it online or something.

Okay my minons, I mean friends.  I must sign off and you all can eagarly anticipate my 100th blog entry.

Mmm-hmm

It's Saturday - which means that I survived my week back at high school.  It's a little wierd when you're having lunch in the staffroom with teachers that taught you.  But it was fun.  I've learned a lot about various teaching methods, so I'm hoping that all will be well in the future for me.

Today will be spent running around and picking up O's and E's (odds and ends), things like shampoo, conditioner, and new work shoes (since mine are pretty much dead...).  Then I'm donning the iPod and scrubbing down my bathroom.  But I may stop at the Wal-Mart paint center and pick up some paint chips to see if I can figure out how I want to paint my bathroom, since the paint is starting to peel and the wood paneling is coming off.  Yeah, there's a lot of work involved, but at least I know that I am perfectly capable of painting a room.  I may even do a mural on one wall (yay, fun with acrylics!!!).

Who was St. Valentine?

There are a couple of St. Valentines, or at least two different ways the story goes.

Version one makes Valentine to be an early Christian bishop who secretly married fellow Christians during Roman rule.  He was eventually caught and then martyred.

Version two makes Valentine an imprisoned man who fell in love with a jailer's daughter.  On the day he was put to death, February 14th, he left a note for the jailer's daughter that said, "I will always love you, Your Valentine."

At least that's the version I got yesterday from a teacher, I haven't looked anything up on Wikipedia yet.
