Ninja gaiden 2 is by far the hardest game, but not quick the most enjoyable (at least for me) rainbow 6 vegas 1 or 2 on realistic is hard but still possible. Forza 3 if you like racing games as you can set the difficulty in many different ways. The dishwasher: dead samuri is an arcade game, which is challenging but enjoyable, and cheap!
I use to hate matchmaking. But I'm really starting to love it, it allows for all the maps to be played, instead of only the top few, and dont forget ITS A BILLION times better waiting 10 minutes for everyone to join your game and everyone just sitting in a lobby, and lets not forget about you would need host to set up the game, meaning, which usually means the player that kills the host the most gets booted out! AND! it helps the cheating a bit, otherwise you would have set up games and leaderboard would be pretty much useless(even more useless then now) Matchmaking is a lot better, I found games like Rainbow 6 and Gears of War kind of ruined it for not adding it.
I have started every game on hard (or the setting above normal) but I only do this so the single player last a bit longer, as i don't care too much about achievement points. The only game I played on normal first go, was ninja gaiden, and that was pretty tough. I hate it when there isn't a setting to change the difficulty, games like assassin creed would've been better just a tad bit harder.
