Being an avid gamer means that I also have a lot of time to play whatever I like on my stereo system while smashing buttons or during random encounters with cactaurs. I love playing Bowie or They Might be Giants for almost any game. I do like game soundtracks, but there's enough badly made in-game music out there that my CDs are rarely left untouched.
Appropriately matched music to game list:
Pink Floyd-Metal Slug series
Any good eighties pop-racing games
Led Zeppelin-FPSs
TMBG-especially made for Puzzle games

I love Battlefield 2 and Gunbound...

They are my two on-line guilty pleasures. I find myself playing them too much, but at the same time want to play them so bad. What is so awesome, you ask? The real world interaction. The knowledge that someone else is on the receiving end of my shotgun blast or C4 explosion. The feeling of taking out a whole group of people in a video game by myself. It's a satisfying and reassuring practice.
Here are my Battlefield 2 stats, btw...

Old school SNES games...

I played and beat Sunset Riders recently and am in the process of beating Super Punch Out. I'm up to the second to last boxer in the special circuit, but he keeps kicking my ass. Anyways, I think these games are superior to games of today in a way. They're timeless and are generally really well done. The level of detail is astounding compared to games of today. SNES was a time when movie games could at least be interesting and not filled with tedium as games of today are. Super Mario RPG was probably my favorite, since it went into such a great story and kept changing and trying different things. Games of today seem too formulaic and after ten years are not as good as they were when they were originally released. SNES games are timeless... I guess I just hold the bar up too high....
