If you ask that, then you've never really modded a game on PC. The good mods either bring a huge amount of new content, or deeply modify some of the game's mechanics. Oh, and of course you have the ones that make your game look insanely good.
Consoles can't get any of these (because they would fry, or because it's technically impossible), they only get the small "sorta cool" or funny ones that don't bring much.
They demoed 2.0 at Citizencon last year, and released it to players not so long afterwards. Though a "solid stable form" should not really be expected during alpha, that's the next step.
That's the logic and smart way to wait for this game for people who aren't interested in watching it being made. Amazing the number of guys who jump on every article and act as if being late is proof of future failure. Far less ambitious games than Star Citizen have taken as long (or even longer) to develop and ended being succesful.
Ignorant much? You can have access to the complete game for 60$. The expensive ships a just a way of supporting the game for wealthy people, these ships can be earned / captured in game.
What a load of crap. I've been waiting for Infinity : Battlescape for twice as long as Star Citizen has been in development (remember even though they launched a Kickstarter in 2015, they have actually been working on this since 2006). Care to provide a link to a video of I : B with a seamless FPS to ship transition, FPS combat, EVA, multicrew in big ships with their own physics grid?
You should think before you post, would help not make you look like a fool. The guy you replied to was asking what other game came close to what was shown in yesterday's presentation, and neither I:B nor ED come close. Try harder.
This idea is a stroke of genius. They are going to sell millions of those. I sure am getting one for myself, and will probably gift a few to friends and family.
