Consider how far back that was though, games were simplier and it was easy to create something innovative and special, but the market is croweded and it's harder to do something different.
Also their style of game isn't really liked anymore by gamers.
Games were easier to create but that doesn't mean good games were easier to create.
Maybe not, but also consider that most of the top ranks left when Microsoft bought Rare the top ranks left, so Rare has had some issues with that, they've talked about it when Peter became in-charge of Microsoft Game Studios Europe.

Yes, it is looking very good indeed. Too bad it slipped to early 2010, but it will be a nice way to kick off the new year.

I think it's great, it'll kick off the new year in style and gives the game more time to be polished. Also it won't have to compete with the big games coming out Fall/Winter Quarter.
