Where've I been?!

Heyo! It's been forever, I don't really post here anymore. Good times for sure, but for whatever reason Gamespot faded out of life. Just posting a little update if you're wondering where I'm at these days. I post bad YouTube reviews here.

I've been hanging in there, finished school, tried out uni, generally grown up a bit. Played a lot of video games that's for sure. At the moment I'm just trying to find out what to do with my life, it was inevitable. Hope you guys are all remaining to be awesome!

If you're keen to game or keep in touch or whatever, chuck me a message over on my channel. I'm down for anything aha, thanks for the memories.

This'll be my last post here.

Bye!

I backed a Kickstarter for the first time the other day!

I finally found a kickstarter worth backing just a couple of days ago... if you guessed Dreamfall Chapters, you would be correct! I looooove The Longest Journey and I'm looking forward to Chapters. Most, if not all, other Kickstarters I've seen haven't really appealed to me until now. Now that I have backed one, it's a pretty nice feeling. I'm glad I'm supporting something I care about, and it now feels like I'm a part of its creation, simply because I contributed to its creation.

I can't remember the last time I've legitimately had a feeling of excitement towards a forthcoming game, but it's definately a great feeling huh. I'll try not to overhype it, but if it's anything like The Longest Journey was, I'm sure I will love it. That game was godsend, if you haven't played it before; please do.

On an unrelated topic I just completed a review of Far Cry 2... you know... the one that left most people with a bad taste. If this is the case with you, I recommend you watch my review; I want you to try it again with permadeath. It becomes amazing, trust me :D

Good lesser known arcade racers?

I love arcade racers, and I recently had an obsession with a lesser known racer named Screamer 2 (which I actually just reviewed, shameless plug). I feel like playing another arcade racer, but I feel like I've played all the NFS/OutRun/Burnout games imainable, so this short blog exists to simply ask for recommendations. What are some good arcade racers?

On another note, this is my 100th blog. Feels a bit wasted, but then again how is it any different from my other 99 blogs? Thanks for reading!

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I hope you had a good 2012, I certainly sorta did. I had a great party on NYE, one of the best NYE's I have ever had; 'twas great fun.

Anyhoo I thought I'd post a blog because it just hit me that I buy way too many games. I figured that I'd simply list all the games that I've bought since Christmas... it hasn't been anywhere near a fortnight and I've bought this many. Wow. On with it:

-Bloodrayne
-Farenheit/Indigo Prophecy
-Screamer 2
-Halo: Anniversary
-The Sims: Medieval
-The Binding of Isaac
-Closure
-Shank 2
-Snapshot
-Dreamfall: TLJ
-Jurassic Park: The Game

I'm sure I haven't mentioned some, but that's a hell of a lot of games to buy within 8 days. Damn Steam Sales/GOG sales/Christmas Sales. Here are some of my thoughts regarding these games.

Bloodrayne seems like a lot of fun, I'm only one chapter in but I love how fast this game is, and it controls perfectly. Halo Anniversary is probably the nicest HD remake I've ever played, and it finally gives me a reason to use my 360. The Sims Medieval had a glitched Steam sale here in Australia, where it went down to $2. Haven't played it yet but hey, it was $2. Just bought Dreamfall, I absolutely LOVED The Longest Journey so I'm pretty excited about this game. I'm also curious to play Indigo Prophecy, because I thought Heavy Rain was awesome. The rest of these games, I haven't played.

So my question to you is, which is the best game out of that list? I need help to pick which one to play next :P Also go ahead and request a review if you like.

My latest review is for the 2008 Prince of Persia, here's a link if you're curious. Spoiler alert, I didn't like it because of it's complete lack of challenge.

The games I got for christmas :D

Oh Christmas. The season that gradually has become less and less exciting after the N64. Still I'm incredible greatful for my gifts, the games I got were Max Payne 3, Rocksmith, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (Steam gift, had it on NGC years ago) and Awesomenauts.

Boy is Max Payne 3 a great game, I've always loved Max Payne's film noire/pulp style and Max Payne 3 definately sticks with the style. I love it!

Rocksmith is an interesting one; it's that guitar game that uses a real guitar. Being someone who plays guitar a lot, I think it's a fairly well done game. Confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it it's a great tool for learning some new songs. Not sure how well it would sit with guitar newcomers however.

I haven't played Awesomenauts, it honestly looks pretty lame but I will give it a go sometime, I hear great things about it. I also haven't played Sonic Adventure 2 Battle since the GameCube days, but I did love it and I loved the Chao gardens, I'm looking forward to playing it again :P

This morning I just completed my review for FEAR 2, here's a link!

Hotline Miami review! ...and is Xbox Live Worth it?

Hello again Gamespot!

I just completed my review of Hotline Miami, which is put simply a phenomenal game. I put a lot more effort into this one then usual actually, I felt I had to do this game justice by going unusually deep into why this game is so fun, so I actually broke three pages in notes before recording this review.

Hotline Miami review for PC

Anyhoo I've been wondering, is paying for Xbox Live (in my case) worth it? I was gifted a 360 a few days ago, and I don't really have any friends who play the console anymore. Most of my gaming friends play Steam and I've got a decent gaming PC, also if I want my online console fix I can boot up my PS3.

But still; Halo! I'm gonna get the anniversary edition because I'd love to play through it again in HD, and I know HD remakes are lazy and controversial, I think this one is by all means worth the money. I'd love to play some more Blood Gulch with some online buddies, although Xbox Live seems unnecesarily expensive; PSN and Steam are free, why can XBL be free? Help me make up my mind Gamespot! Is it worth the money (mainly for for Halo)?

I got a 360!

Hello Gamespot,

I now am an owner of Microsoft's Xbox 360. Didn't have good first impressions, after it told me to pay for Xbox Live Gold just to open Internet Explorer. No one is ever going to pay for IE. Then I popped in Project Gotham Racing for the original Xbox, which I had to update for and then it told me it was the wrong region anyway.

But hey, I actually got the Xbox for free as a second hand gift so it's impossible to legitimately complain. I bought Fable 2 today, which is my first 360 game and I'm actually really enjoying it, it's much better then I'd expected and I love that dog! I've also bought Perfect Dark Zero off eBay, which is apparently a pretty lame game but listening to other peoples opinions on games never seems to go well for me; the game looks great fun and I loved the original.

Can anyone recommend any superb 360 exclusives? I'm meaning to buy Forza Horizon (because I love TDU), and perhaps a Halo game because I feel it's an Xbox owners duty to buy a Halo game. Also I want Conkers Live and Reloaded for the original Xbox, and I want to hope that it works for it :p

Now I'm going to pretty much contradict what I said previously; and why don't you check out my review of THPS HD while you're here? I posted it a while ago but haven't linked it to you guys yet so there you go I suppose. If you want to save that precious internet spending time you have, I can tell you it's an awful game. Also I'm going to review THPS2, FEAR 2 and Hotline Miami soon so subscribe if you're interested, and if you're not then don't subscribe I suppose.

I miss blogging here, it feels so aimless and that's why I love it. Go ahead and add me on XBL; username: minimme, have a link to it. Don't mind the avatar, I just tried to make him as ugly as possible, and I don't have a payed subscription so maybe we'll play some Windows Live games together instead :p. Game on!

Homefront review!

Just uploaded my review of the FPS from last year named Homefront, and yes I did get a copy of it after returning the game to the store :P DRM can be so annoying sometimes...

Homefront single player review for PC

Also I've joined a website named RawGamers, and I post my reviews there too. The owner of the site said he was looking for reviewers in a YouTube video, and I submitted my application and apparently they loved my reviews surprisingly enough. I think they're pretty boring but hey it's nice to know someone likes them :P so yeah go to their website if you like, here is the link.

Homefront is pretty short I finished it in one (4 hour) sitting. Had a maths exam and an assignment due yesterday so when I got home I just completely zoned out and played Homefront from start to finish, 'twas really relaxing.

This song's been stuck in my head all week, and who doesn't love The Adolescents!

DRM is f*cking useless.

So a week ago I bought a copy of Homefront from EB Games. I went ahead and put the game disc in, and the key was duplicated. First thing I did was go to THQ's support page and asked them what I should do. They redirected me to Steam support.

I really should've just gone back to the store, Steam support are awful. They're terrible. And here's why; I send this email;

Hey there, I bought the Homefront 'Don't Tread of Me' edition game from EB Games a couple of days ago and it seems that the key on the back of the manual has been stolen.

My Steam account name is **
The two emails I use are ** and **
and I have included a photo of the key as an attatchment.

I hope you can help, I had no luck with THQ so if this doesn't work I'll simply return the game to the store.

I did indeed attatch a photograph of the sticker on the back of the manual which had the key on it, then I followed up this email with;

I'd like to add that I bought the game brand new in plastic for around $20, and I can scan the receipt if you wish.

A mere four days later they responded with;

Hello Peter,

Thank you for contacting Steam Support.

In order to investigate this issue, we must verify the purchase receipt and your ownership of the CD Key.

Please ensure that you submit a full-color image in .jpg format, rather than a photocopy.

If you have any difficulty locating the CD Key on the packaging, please see the following link:

So yeah I did just that.

4 Message by you on Tue, 13th Nov 2012 8:52 pm I have attatched two images, one being the receipt, one being the key with my ticket number written above it.

And then I got this email back from them this morning:

Hello Peter,

We will not accept printed off or hand-written CD Keys, nor will we accept images that have been altered with photo editing software.

Your CD Key appears to have been printed off and attached to the packaging of the game.

If you have recently purchased this product, please contact the seller to discuss a refund or exchange.

Please see the CD Key Reset Process FAQ if you would like more information:

The game came with a f*cking sticker of the CD key on the back of the manual. I wouldn't be bothered so much if it didn't take them like an entire week to respond, and if they told me the whole sticker thing after I sent the first photo... I replied with this:

Gee, thanks lads. Maybe you could have told me that before I wrote all over it? I did send a picture of it without writing on it, you know. I'll try return the game tonight, it's been a week since I bought the game so I hope they accept it with all the writing on it. Another win for DRM.

Well handled...

So yeah, now I'm going to try and return the game tonight. If they don't accept it at the store I've just wasted a good $20; then I'll torrent it. DRM is awful.
