More new cheap PC games!

Today, for around $20, I bought AOE2 Gold, Paradise, International Tennis Pro, Hearts of Iron Anthology and some horse game for my sister. Haven't played any of 'em yet, I loved the original AOE and never got around to the second one, so that's exciting. Haven't heard of Paradise, looks okay. Tennis Pro looks like a typical tennis game, but w/e it was $2. Hearts of Iron looks quite fun, and it was a steal for $4. I'll give it a shot sometime. Tell me your opinions on these games!

I've been playing Tomb Raider Legend and Hitman: Blood Money. Tomb Raider is like Prince of Persia set in modern times with more breasts, and Hitman is still as fun as ever. I'm now gonna dig into these new games. :)

*another high five* for another crap blog!

My opinions on a movie and a few games.

Last night I saw The Green Hornet. It was a very fun movie. Had some plot holes, and the story isn't that deep, so the critics probably hate it; but I thought it was great fun. I didn't think Seth Rogan would be all that good as The Green Hornet, but he was, surprisingly. Go see it.

The two new games I have playing are Shaun Whites Snowboarding and Avatar: The Game. Both are reasonably meh, Avatar can be enjoyable but it doesn't go all that deep; the setting is interesting though. Just too many time filling missions, repeditive missions and standard gunplay.

Shaun Whites Snowboarding is even more meh, it really isn't that bad of a game. I think I'd like it if I'd ever been snowboarding haha. First thing I noticed was it didn't support widescreen resolutions by default, I had to look up how to get it to work on the WSGF. Once I got that running, I gave it a shot. It actually provides occasional thrills and has a very good sense of speed, there's just too much trying to get up the mountain, instead of down. Also, the keyboard controls are utterly horrible. It uses WASD, IJKL, the arrow keys, the numpad and the mouse along with other keys like tab and spacebar.

I just got back from a friends place, we played Kane and Lynch 2. That game is crap. Don't play it.

@theslimdavylp

Watch this video and skip to about 1:20, and you'll see what a bloom effect is and why Assault on Dark Athena gives me a headache. This is a response to your comment on mah last blog.

The overuse of the 'bloom' effect.

Hello again, yesterday I bought 'The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena', and I'm struggling through it. It's a fun game, stealthishly it's like a futuristic thief that involves lurking in the shadows and melee'ing in the back. If you're not playing stealthily, it's like a meh FPS. An all round fun game.

One thing is preventing me from playing it. It has this bloom effect that gives me a headache and makes my eyes hurt. It's so bloody annoying I'm thinking of giving up on the game. In the comments tell me if it changes later on in the game.

Today I bought Shaun Whites Snowboarding for $6 AU and Avatar The Game for $14. I've heard they're both meh by critics, but I completely ignore critics these days as I always disagree with them. I enjoyed the Avatar film so I hope the game is descent.

I've been playing Bully: Scholarship Edition for PC a bit, it's as fun as it was four years ago on the PS2. It really is a blast, my gripe is that it occasionally crashes to windows so I have to save after every mission, and you have to save at your hideouts like in old GTA's.

I saw a movie last night.

Last night, I saw a movie. The Tourist, 'twas a fun action romance thing. Nothing groundbreaking or new, but it was very entertaining to watch. That's about as much as I'm going to say about that, not much of a movie reviewer.

What is/are your favourite movie(s)?

I finished a couple of games 'smorning.

I finished Uncharted 2 and XIII, both are great games. XIII is unique and has new ideas, while at its core it feels a bit like a generic FPS, and Uncharted 2 brings nothing to the table, but everything it does it excels at.

I did play U2 when it came out down at a relatives place in Tazy, I loved it and got a fair way through the story. I just never got around to buying it until... actually I never got around to buying it. I got if for Christmas :D

Below is a very, very, very, very minor spoiler to XIII
XIII had a cliffhanger ending, and for such a story driven game, I'm disappointed that a sequel was never developed. The ending actually feels like the developers went broke before finishing the game. It even said 'To be continued...' at the end. I hope there'll be a sequel, but I doubt there will be. Ah well.
I also forgot to mention that I got Blops when it came out, I don't play it much. My brother does, he seems to love it. I can't get into it.

*high five* -for another short meaningless blog :D

Inception and XIII.

Last night I viewed Inception, I'm sure a lot of you have seen it, and here are my opinions on it. Inception is a clever movie, which is about dreaming and the subconsciousness; this lets the movie create a lot of different scenarios, and they are all very interesting. The movie paces well, and doesn't really explain to you whats going on at first. It leaves a lot for you to figure out, which is a good thing. I found myself grinning throughout the movie, as it was very action packed and simply stunning. It's really hard to explain, just go see it.

Also, the game I've been recently playing is XIII, if you read one of yesterdays blogs you know that I bought it. It's great fun, it has a bit of 'generic fps' to it, but it paces very well and mixes things up a bit. The most appealing thing about it was the graphics were all comic style, with onomatopoeic words popping up like 'BOOM' and 'tap tap tap' in comic font, this is because its apparently based on a French comic book of the same name... I haven't heard of it either. Its surprisingly quite story based, as you are some guy who roles up on a beach, framed for murder of the president. The story unfolds throughout the game with flashbacks, cutscenes and encounters with people you've met before. It's all made very well. THe environments are varied and not overused too much, it's just a well made game. Apparently it was really glitchy when it was released; I patched mine up with an unofficial patch.

Because both Inception and XIII are great, I'm in a really good mood now :D

Hoorah!

New games :D

I went shopping today, and purchased some new games :D I got Bully: Scholarship Edition for PC, Tomb Raider: Legend for PC, Sonic PC Collection and XIII for PC. The most interesting game there looks like 13, and I'm downloading the latest patch for it right now; while I'm capped.

If you've been stalking me you know I've been buying too many games, and yeah, I have been, and yeah, I posted two blogs today, and they were both half arsed and small (this being one of them), but hey, I'm not forcing you to read them... am I?

I just stopped playing a bit of PoP: T2T, I never feel compelled to play this one, for many a reason. The combat feels more clunky than it used to, the camera also feels more clunky and the story feels weaker, atleast it isn't as dark as Warrior Within was. It's a good game, but not as good as WW, and definately no where near as good as The Sands of Time.

Games I forgot to list in my last blog.

In my last blog, I listed games that I have obtained since we last spoke. I mentioned that I probably had forgot some, and quite frankly, I did. The games I forgot were; Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Crysis Wars and Overlord.

Overlord is alright. It kind of blends RTS with a third person fighter, but excels in neither of them. The environments, while interesting, are overused. It's not a bad game, just nothing special.

Crysis however, is one of the biggest turds I've played in ages. It's just eyecandy; that's it. So many people I know love it, yet its just a generic shooter with retarted AI. It's benchmarking software, and it's no fun at all. Critics loved it, and so did many of my friends. It sucks.

So yeah, thats this short blog, and check out my last blog, tell me if you want to hear my opinions of any of my games.

Games, games, games, games.

Been a while ey?

I've been gaming, and such. Not much to say really, I guess I just haven't been bothered to blog; and now that my internet is capped, why the hell not!

To start off our heated one sided conversation, I'm going to tell some things that I have obtained since we last spoke, mostly being games. I got a hell of a lot of games, mostly due to Steams Holiday sale. I think I'll list 'em, then maybe comment on some of them.

 • Trials 2: Second Edition
 • World of Goo
 • Need for Speed: Shift
 • Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
 • Altitude

I can bet you that's not every game I've bought, and the best game from all of them, the game that stands out the most; is Mafia. I didn't play Mafia when it came out, I played a Demo and didn't think much of it. I bought it for $5 during the Steam sale, and I can easily say its one of the greatest games I have ever played, if not the best. I've never seen The Godfather of Scarface *flame shields up* so I can't compare the story to them, but it is superb. Everything about this game is superb, if you haven't played it, play it.

Hitman is a brilliant series of games, I didn't get Contracts because it isn't on Steam, but I got the three others, as you may have read. I had previously played through Silent Assassin many times, and loved it, but never got around to playing any of the others until now. They are awesome.

I bought ME for PC of a buddy, because he didn't want it. I haven't done anything with it yet, because I've had the game on PS3 for a while now. It's a great game too. I also bought the two S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games listed for $5 on (you guessed it) a Steam sale, I haven't played them, and don't plan to in a while. Tell me if I should.

Super Meat Boy is great, not as good as Gamespot says it is, but still a great game. My gripe is I didn't find it very addictive, but it's very satisfying finished a level and watching the replays.

-

I could go on for hours on my opinions of all these different games, but I'm too lazy. I haven't played a lot of them yet either.

As a comment, tell me which of these games you want me to give opinions on, or review, and I most likely will.

Game on!

TF2 Made my day.

Hello my fellow gamers! I am writing this blog as a small thing made my day the other day, and I thought I'd share it with you... no my exams aren't finished. Anyhoo, I was playing Team Fortress 2, on 2Fort as an Engineer, I was just kicking back in the corner with mah dispencer and turret, killing spies as they came. As I killed one with my wrench, who was trying to kill me with his knife, he said 'minimme, your really good' in the text chat, then four or five people agreed with him. I was about halfway on the leaderboard, and I was hardly focusing, I was just relaxing. I felt so loved :p It's odd though, as I've only dropped about 20 hours into TF2, and I've had it forever. I've never been much of a compeditive person either. :D I told you it was a small thing, but it really did make my day. Dyou have any similar experiences in games?
