I'm going to make a Daft Punk union, it's final. I need 4-8 GS members to be officers in my union to start it up, comment if you want to be one.

Fraps Testing (not interesting).
by minimme on Comments
Yeahh I was just testing fraps again; this time it's on the HL2 mod Insurgency.

Prince of Persia: Warrior Within gameplay.
by minimme on Comments
I was just testing fraps, and I made a gameplay video on Prince of Persia: Warrior Within and put it up on Youtube. I didn't get any sound, so I just put Daftendirekt by Daft Punk on repeat the whole time. (It sooo doesn't suit the mood of the game :p). I'm having quite a bit of fun playing through it; I agree with GS' review completely. It improves on 'The Sands of Time' in every way except one; it has a dark emo theme as opposed to SoT which had a fairytale storytelling theme, making it all up a worse game. Still a great game nevertheless.
The song will probably get banned as usual.

For some reason I can't upload it to GS, it keeps saying 'The connection was reset' or something, any help on this?
EDIT: Just uploaded another one; which is signifigantly better than the last.

I'll see if I can put this on GS.
EDIT: I can't; same problem.
A blog out of boredom.
by minimme on Comments
I haven't posted a blog in a while; and right now is perfect... because I'm extremely bored. I don't know what I will end up bloggin about, but I know how to start. Here goes:
I go to school in Australia, I'm in year 9 (yeah I'm young; surprise surprise?) and I'm in a public school. If anyone researches the Australian government (everybody does; don't they?) would know that they are handing out laptops in public schools because we got a new prime minister; K. Rudd. A couple of days ago they gave me my laptop and it's a Lenovo ThinkPad Mini 10. Here's a picture of one (can't be bothered to take one of mine).
It comes with 32bit Windows 7, a 10" screen, DX11 and an Intel Atom N450 1.66GHz (2CPUs). It's pretty cool; although most things are blocked on it... you can install and run things on safe mode; although safe mode is really ugly. I'll be busy trying to find another way... and I'm trying to find a Proxy to get past sites. It blocks sites at home aswell... I mean WTF?! Oh yeah I forgot to say it comes with a webcam with a video capture software that can record the screen too; which is pretty nifty. It also comes with iTunes (big mistake on their behalf). Although you can't update iTunes... unless you love safe mode. Every time I use it I get pi$$ed off at IE (I can hardly live without Mozilla) and all the blocked sites. Meh it was free. I don't think it's helping me learn at school; but learning at school hardly exists anymore.
On another topic; you might be wondering... what music do I like? (You weren't were you... oh well, now you are). To put it in a nutshell; I love Daft Punk; can't really expand on that too much. It's been rumoured they're playing in Sydney this year; if they are... I would umm... go.
Can't think of anything to write about; I could rant about how pointless I think school is, but I'm not in the mood (it's a Saturday night, why talk about school?) I could talk about games I suppose. Since our last little discussion I bought Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time for PC (which I once owned on PS2 but sold because I couldn't get past some bit that I got past on my first try this time round :p), Deus Ex for PC (somehow missed it; what do I think, you ask? It's FRIGGIN INCREDIBLE!!!) and Bad Company 2 for PS3 (which I now regret buying because it's extremely boring... yes it's better then MW2; the only reason I'm bored of it is because I think I'm sick of FPS... meh). Add me on Steam or PSN: minimme for both.
Now I've gotten bored of blogging; I'll be off playing Deus Ex or checking out some forums I guess. By all.
tl;dr? I don't blame you. Here's a really short version; The Government gave me a laptop for school, I love Daft Punk and I bough Deus Ex, PoP: SoT and BC2.
My Top 20 Favourite Developers Part 2 of 2.
by minimme on Comments
Incase you actually missed my last blog, which was part 1; you can find it here, here and here (maybe even here too... if you look hard enough). Here goes... (oh and by the way, you don't have to agree with me)
#10 id Software
Doom, Quake and Wolfenstein; chances are you've played one of these games, and if you haven't; you shouldn't bother (the games have aged terribly; except Quake 2... that's pretty fun). These guys pretty much invented FPS back in '92 with Wolfenstein 3D... I heard they're new games were pretty cra*py though.
#9 LucasArts
LucasArts have made Labrynth, LOOM, the Indiana Jones series of games, the Star Wars series of games, The Secret of Monkey Island series and my personal favourite; Grim Fandango. These days it's really just all Star Wars games, but I remember them for their great adventure games... you don't get them any more.
#8 Ubisoft
Assassin's Creed, Myst, Prince of Persia, Rayman and most of the Tom Clancy's are all developed by Ubisoft. This funny little developer also loves to publish; although what it's developed are usually of higher standards. Gotta love 'em.
#7 Rare (formerly RareWare)
RareWare (who are now called Rare, apparently) were the kings of the NES and the N64; with great titles such us Conker's Bad Fur Day, Perfect Dark, DK64, DK: Country, Banjo Kazooie and a butload of NES games. Microsoft bought them and nothing interesting happened.
#6 IO Interactive
Hitman; why say more? (I know, you're surprised... scroll down a little for a bigger one)
#5 Rockstar
Midnight Club, Grand Theft Auto and Canis Canem Edit... open worlds is what they do best. These guys are pretty much controling the teenage not-so-hardcore gamers at the moment.
#4 DICE
Despite creating the Battlefield series (which I've loved to death), I gave these guys the spot of #4 on my list simply because of Mirror's Edge; they did something different, something out of the ordinary. It might not have been the biggest success, but I know I loved it.
#3 Konami
Silent Hill is awesome... Metal Gear Solid? Friggin incredible! Great story, gameplay, graphics (for all of them) and sounds (for all of them) make them the games closest to perfect on this Earth. Stealth genres would almost definately be dead if it wasn't for Metal Gear Solid in my opinion. (@ErkiB, it's not number one... but it's close).
#2 Bethesda
Fallout 3 and The Elder Scrolls; Bethesda at the moment are the RPG emporers. You've probably played a game developed by this company and yes; you either loved it or hated it; so I won't say more (or I just can't be bothered...).
#1 Valve
Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress, Portal, Counter-Strike and the revolutionary Half-Life put this game at #1 in my opinion, not too surprising but it might of surprised some people (I'm looking at you @illmatic87). Chances are you've played one of Valves games, but if you haven't; download Steam and buy The Orange Box... NOW!
My Top 20 Favourite Developers Part 1 of 2.
by minimme on Comments
Sup, I've been making lists on my iPod (as some of you may know if you actually read my last blog) and I've finished one; my top 20 favourite developers. So... this is part 1 of 2 in the series I will be counting down from 20... here goes...
First I'll give a mention to Rebellion, Bungie, Maxis, Gearbox, Sucker Punch, Infinity Ward and Evolution Studios... for almost getting in.
#20 Croteam
Serious Sam... what a game... why say more?
#19 Naughty Dog
Known for the Jak series, The Crash Bandicoot series (well, some of them... for the PS1) and the (more recent) Uncharted series. They are a good develeper and I reccomend all of their games.
#18 Looking Glass Studios
Thief is a game I somehow totally missed, so I picked it up last year; and loved every second of it. These are the guys that created the Thief series although shut down in 2000, whereas Eidos took it up from then on in. Just for that, these guys are here.
#17 BioWare
Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Star Wars KotoR, Mass Effect and Dragon Age Origins. I have this strange inkling this game likes to make RPG games... I wonder what tells me that. BioWare put quality into their work, that's why they are great.
#16 Insomniac
Spyro, Ratchet and Clank and Resistance... what more could you ask for?
#15 Firaxis
Civilisations and pirates... what I've always wanted. You may know this company better by thinking of every game with the words Sid and Meier before the title. A great developer.
#14 Epic Games
Although known for Gears of War and starting the Unreal series; I applaud them for their engines; which have been used a hell of a lot: and pretty much all of the games on it's engine are good.
#13 Irrational Games ( 2k Boston/Australia)
System Shock 2 and Bioshock were shocking so this shocking developer shockingly gets the shocking prize of the shocking 13th place in my shocking list.
#12 Capcom
This ye olde developer is still making great games. From Street Fighter to Resident Evil; this developer have always been making good, if not great, games sinse the 70's.
#11 Game Freak
POKEMON! Almost everyone has a memory with this game, gotta love it.
Yeahhh I'll post the rest sometime in the not too distant future... which is... whenever I get around to it.
I just finished Portal.
by minimme on Comments
So I finished Portal earlier today for the first time (yeah I know) and I'm not sure what to think about it, a solid title non-the-less. I'm sure you've heard of this one so I won't explain too much about it, so if you have, skip this next paragraph (unless you love reading :p)
In Portal, you are Chell, you are in Apeture Laboratories (in the HL universe, in which Apeture Laboratories is rivals with Black Mesa Research Facility) with GLaDOS; a computer with a brain (or similar). You have a portal gun that shoots Portals (no comment), It shoots an orange portal and a blue portal; you walk through one and come out the other. It's a first person puzzle game, released by Valve and is... creative, to say the least.
The highlight of the game is easily GLaDOS and her commentary... I won't ruin anything (not that there is much to ruin) but it is funny, just because of that is worth the buy. It challenges your brain occasionally but it's nothing insanely extreme. The game is very short, that's for sure but worth the buy.
Did anyone else find GLaDOS really creepy? Like, I thought there was a person in that boss battle thing at the end, and how the song is called 'Still Alive' meaning she wants to die? I dunno, just thought that was a little weird.
-Mini
Oh and by the way, I've been working on some lists on my ipod that will evolve into blogs. Whenever something comes into my head I pull my iPod out of my pocket and put it in; so far I have a: Fav Games list, Fav Devs list, Fav Consoles list, Fav Bands list and Fav Movies list. Look forward to it.
Gotta new Graphics Card.
by minimme on Comments
A bit self explanatory, and I don't feel like writing a wall of writing. So today I went down to the shops to get myself some shorts and socks for school; and came home with a nVidia Galaxy GT240 Graphics Card. As to the fact that I have no experience in building computers, I had to call up a friend to tell me what to do... I did, and I can finally play CSS and NFS:UnderGround on High graphics level with my crappy rig. It was $123 Australian Dollars (yes, they are different to American dollars) and I'm not sure if it was cheap or not... can someone tell me?
-Cheers.
Just saw Avatar again.
by minimme on Comments
So I went to the movies today and saw James Cameron's Avatar again today, and I thought the hype died down... the cinema was almost full! (and it started at 2:45pm!!) and it's still an incredible movie, definately my favourite movie of all time.
In other news... I finished Hero of Sparta on my Ipod the other day... I guess I'll review it some time.
Worst birthday ever.
by minimme on Comments
This is a short blog, because I just simply don't have much to say. Apart from the fact that today's my birthday... and it's the first day of school. How exciting...
