Cows need to seriously take off your fanboy googles.

.

How anyone with at least a little IQ can say that these graphics:

.

look better than these graphics

.

is beyond me. Uncharted 3 looks absolutely disgusting compared to Gears.

100% agreed

[QUOTE="ferret-gamer"]

crysis 2 is not superior graphically, not even technically superior, cryengine 3 is supposed to be a lighter version of cryengine2, they just tweaked a few things to compensate for heavy losses. and DX11 doesnt do magic, its not a complete graphical overhaul. seriously its your opinion, and the opinion of someone else against the whole world...3 people out of 150 claim that crysis 2 has better graphics than crysis 1.lightleggy

Ok, lets go over and see whose opinon makes more sense, and maybe you might want to learn a bit about both before making facepalm worthy claims about Cryengine 3

Lighting: Crysis 2 has a global illumination system and deferred rendering. Crysis has a direct lighting with cheap fake indirect lighting and a forward rendering system for the lighting. Conclusion: Crysis 2's lighting is far more realistic, with a much larger amount of lightsources.

Shadows: Crysis has soft shadows and SSAO. Crysis 2 has shadows with variable pneumbra, closer to how shadows work in real life, and SSDO, the successor to the SSAO tech. Conclusion: Crysis 2 has better shadows, more realistic, higher quality, and with less visual inconsitencies

Post Processing: Crysis has motion blur, HDR, and blur DoF, the normal stuff. Crysis 2 has HDR motion blur, higher quality HDR including stuff like anamorphic lens flares, and and absolutely beautiful Bokeh DoF. Conclusion: Crysis 2 wins. Again

Water: Crysis has nice water with SSS and a bunch of nice effect. Crysis 2 has nice water with SSS, but not some of the little effects. However it has tessellation for a much more detailed water, and it also is dynamically interactive. Conclusion: Crysis 2 wins, unless you prefer a tiny rainbow effect over far more detailed and interactive water.

Materials: Crysis 1 had POM and a good deal of crappy and very nice textures. Crysis 2 has improved POM, and tessellation, has plenty of crappy textures just like Crysis and has some great textures as well. Conclusion: Crysis 2 wins, but crysis might have a few more higher resolution textures

Reflections: Crysis has a relatively standard method of real time reflections on its water, and that is all it has for reflectsions. Crysis 2 has a Screen space real time reflection method that is not as flexible, however you can have a lot more of them. C2 has real time reflections on gas tanks, floors, doors, even soldier's helmets. Conclusion: Crysis 2 wins

Scale: Crysis is huge, large draw distance. Crysis 2 is much more confined. Conclusion: Crysis wins

Interactivity: Crysis has forests you can cut down, homes you can explode, helicopters sending wind through the trees. Crysis 2 has a much smaller amount of interactivity. Conclusion: Crysis wins.

OVERALL: Self explanatory. Crysis 2 is technically superior, unless you somehow think that having a large scale and interactivity overrules the fact that Crysis looses in everything else.

And now i wait for the denial.

well

if crysis 2 is technically superior

then why does crysis 1 looks better?

it doesn't.....Crysis 2 looks better imo

although we are still in the current generation most of the big name titles have been announced or shown in some way. so with that in mind what would you say has been the best looking game of the generation PC can have its own catagory.

My top 10 would be

10. Elder scrolls IV- the first game that made me say we have arrived in the next generation.

9. God of War 3- stunning

8. Resident Evil 5- some of the best HDR and character models seen

7. Mass Effect-honorable mention

6. Killzone 2-second best looking PS3 game and looks better than 3 imo.

5. Uncharted 3-best looking PS3 game

4. Gears of War 3-looks superb hopefully the gameplay can match the graphics

3. RAGE- open world, crazy detail 60 frames per second. nuff said.

2. Crysis 2-still the best looking console game by some margin imo, sometimes i wonder how my 360 can run this game.

1. DOOM 4-given this game will come out in 2012-2013 it will be one of the last major releases and Id have already said console version will be locked @30 frames and given what they can do at 60fps with rage then buckle in.

PC. 1. The Witcher, 2. Battlefield 3, 3. Crysis 2 DX11, 4. Metro 2033, 5. not sure

Nice list

Could potentially be. But regardless, its a piss poor gaming device, requires unnecessary hastle to enjoy a game, not to mention that most of its games are trash or on rail. People playing that idiotic device look laughable. Remember MS's E3? Funny gifs were created from them showing Kinect.

One of the biggest issues I have is that way too many of the games are on-rails. It's fine for something like Child of Eden, but for Fable? No way. It's proof that you need a controller (or keyboard) in order to have true freedom of movement within the game, whereas eliminating that controller only puts you as the player in a situation where you can only flail around.

I was thinking about that, and maybe they could release a kind've glove, with buttons. Its not unheard of but its probably outside what MS wants to do with Kinect so whatever :P

I've also thought that a glove with buttons/thumb stick for kinect would be a good idea.. that way you wouldn't have to worry about dropping the controller when your waving your arms around....if done properly it could solve some of kinects games on rails problem
