I was hunting lions with my uncle at Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe this past July when we stumbled upon a Shona village by the Zambezi river. I noticed off to the northeast piles of smashed Xbox One boxes and consoles scattered all over the place. According to our guide Abdul-Jabber, planes fly overhead every Saturday and drop the X1 near the village landfill because it's selling so poorly worldwide.
My uncle and I spend the next two days helping the Shona people bury the consoles. When we were about to leave a tribesman came by and said "someday these X1 will be very valuable just like the Atari 2600 ET games in the Alamogordo New Mexico landfill." I smiled and left.
