Pitching Scalebound to Microsoft was Kellams downfall. Platinum Games took their fury out on him after the mighty M canceled the project.

What I like about the 2D Sonic games is the focus on platforming with the branching paths in each zone. When Sonic went 3D, the gameplay was speed, speed, and more speed through linear levels. Sonic Mania looks like a great homage to the past and I love the new remix music.
