@cpfast Because you're an embarrassment to gamers for getting upset about the reviews of a game you have invested neither time nor money in. Tell me cpfast, without googling. Name three items in Oscar's safe.

@lakamas11 Maybe Terrence had a hard time writing in the house he was molested in? Maybe Sam went through her parents things before she ran away? Maybe the combination of linearity with free form exploration is one of the highlights of the game? Maybe you should think before you write another game review.

@cpfast All you people coming from youtube to complain about the $20 you didn't spend for a story you didn't experience need to leave gaming discussion forever.

@ianpac Have you actually played the game? I am guessing not, or else you really are thick. Here's one of the stories: HEAVY SPOILER ALERTS for people who don't need to have everything spelled out to them to enjoy a quality narrative: Daughter moves to new home, gets used to new school, discovers she has feelings for another girl, faces judgment and ridicule from school and later home, struggles with prospect of losing girlfriend to military, is reunited with girlfriend and runs away from home. Story one.

Here's another: Mom Jan moves into mansion inherited from her husband's uncle. It seems like a nice turn of events but her husband grows distant in the new home and the long commute to her job as a park ranger drives her further from her family. She forms a (likely unrequited) crush on a coworker, entertains the possibility of starting an affair with him. But he has a girlfriend, and the mom wants to reconnect with her husband. Jan and her husband agree to leave for a marriage counseling retreat, an arrangement that ensures she cannot attend the coworker's wedding to his girlfriend. Story two.

Here's another: Dad Terrence is the author of a series of scifi historical novels focusing on the assassination of JFK. He writes about a character who can travel back in time to right the wrong committed in November 1963. Terrence's father, also a writer and an academic gives patronizing praise of the first novel, congratulating Terrence for finding an outlet to work through a childhood trauma but encouraging him to write more sincere work. The first two novels were published with decreasing sales, but the third was rejected from publishing. Terrence drinks away his grief at his failed career as a novelist, attempts to redirect his talent towards writing reviews of audio equipment. Ever since he has moved into his new house, however, his reviews keep redirecting their focus to his childhood, and his employer threatens to fire him. Finally a scifi publisher gets in contact with Terrence, convinces him to let them republish his novels for a different market. Inspired, Terrence begins a final story to his time traveling hero's tale: one in which the hero travels back in time to save himself. Story three.

Here's one last one: Uncle Oscar is a respected pharmacist, beloved by his family and community. One day in November 1963 Oscar drugged and molested his sister's son, Terrence. Now hated by his family, he gives up his company and locks himself away in his mansion until he dies. In regret for his actions, he leaves his mansion and his entire estate to Terrence. Oscar, either in spirit or in memory, continues to haunt the home until the spirit is exorcised by two girls in love, and/or by a nephew finally coming to terms with his abuse. Story four.

Only one of these stories is told with narration. Every other story thread was revealed through items found throughout the house.

All you people coming from youtube to complain about the $20 you didn't spend for a story you didn't experience need to leave gaming discussion forever.

@thread-of-red Services like steam sell new games for a steep drop in price after only a few months. Xbox had it set up so that used games wouldn't be much less expensive no matter when you buy them.

I'd say the sales will speak for themselves as to how big a deal this is to the majority of gamers. And look--the preorders for the game are already booming. People who want to roleplay straight characters will continue to get what they want, people who want to roleplay as gay characters will get what they want. There are some privileged fools digging their heels in and whining but they can either get with the times or ween themselves off video games altogether because this is the trend things are taking and it's not going to reverse, sorry.
