[QUOTE="Nighteg"]Maybe I'm blind, but the MW pics above look way better.zomglolcats
I agree. The STALKER pics were VERY grainy. The character model wasn't that great either.Oh you beat me to it. I havent played any of them, so I'm not camparing them.
Im trying to explain only with what I see from the screenies so it's going to be hard to explain... here it goes anyway:
It has 2 problems,
1. The trees, the grass the texturesandthe world in general seem THAT sharp that makes it feel like everything is pasted with glue.
2.The textures havelike thisrandompixels all around that make the textures look unfinished or maybe just thought too muchfor general use... thus making the "wood"for example not really fit into the world.
What seems to be the problem (at least on still images) is thatso called grain. WhichI think is how the engine works, rendering each pixel (even from the textures)into the world calculating stuff on theflyis whatmakes the everything look grainy. So not loading the texture completely and then apply to a model and then the calculating stuff (light, etc.)is what creates the effect.Thats why the textures look like the old models that were created froma block of textures andsince this modelshave a ton they notfit that well...
IDK if it has Ambient oclussion. But it looks like if it has, it doesn't affect the textures and/or the textures don't have any shader info into them, thus making the texture low quality.
That how I think it works, and why maybe only in motion looks better. I maybe incorrect small or big time,I know, but is how it may work.
Only a focus change in the engine can make it look better.
My 2 cents
