Actually the highest resolution you'll get from component cables are 1080i, but this is true that with a 52" set it won't make a noticable difference anyway. Since you've already got the HDMI hooked up, stay with that.

I got my x-box in july of 07 before the HDMI ports and i have mine set on 1080p and 1080i, I use i but i really dont know the difference, and that sux to have a 50inch. tv that only supports up to 720. I have a 26inch that goes up to 1080i/1080p ad could someone tell me which one looks cleaner of the two?? thnks fellers

Soooooo.... I sent my 360 in about 10 days ago and I checked the status site today and it doesn't have any registered devices under my name.

Should I be worried/pissed or hopeful that I'm getting an entirely new system?

it will be entirely new to you and maybe it will be my old system whos ever it was it will be refurbished, and you wil have a new SN# on the website soon thats when its getting shipped back to you, and i bet if i come back in 2 dayssomeone else will ask this SAME question again, the same questions is on every other page of this forums its like the Questions start to repeat over and over after every 3-5 pages....

MS may have increased the warranty to 3 years, but if you have to send your console in for repair once you will likely have to send your refurb consoles in multiple times. Therefore, you spend quite a few months of that warranty time without a console and they always send back a console that eventually breaks down in some way.

Then you have to worry about the DRM issues with any downloadable content that you have purchased.

Add to those two items the fact that the repair center and the call center do not communicate. This (along with many othe issues) make calling support a very frustrating and LONG process.

All of this adds up to people repeatedly returning their 360's for the 3 years of the warranty until they eventually are forced to start paying for repairs and/or forced to purchase another 360 from a retailer.

WITH ALL THAT SAID:

The games on the system are great. Outside of hardware problems, overpriced content, and horrible support, the Xbox360 has a great lineup of games. The controller feels great and the only problem with it has been the D-Pad. I am not sure if the D-pad has been updated in the newer consoles.

MY ADVICE:

Wait another year before getting a 360. You will get more reliable hardware and all of there will be a huge lineup of great games at discounted prices.

Halo 3 is definitely not worth the price of admission with all the troubles that many people have experienced with the system. I am waiting for my 3rd Xbox360 to be sent to me now. Do some research on the RROD problems and the customer service issues. You will find that it is a common problem and not an enjoyable experience.

you must are still on your first one or either dont own one at all, because they re-issue the warranty when they send it back so its not the same one. as soon as you get it back you got another year for anything beside the RROD and for that you have 3 years, and if you send it back in, the restart another warranty, you wouldnt be a Sony fan boy would you??

If you go to the broken 360 thread at the top of the 360 forums, your learn real quick that every xbox has a 50/50 chance of messing up it dosent matter which one because they all are the exact same on the inside so read the broken 360 forums first and see for yourself. but unless you just want a black one then id stick with the best deal which is what $350 for the premium, heck thats dirt cheap, and the 3 year warranty is only for the red ring of death its 1 year for everything else, and only buy it from best buy, wal-mart or maybe gamestop because they have in store warrantys that you just take it back and get a new one, and best buy has a 2year for the same price as gamestops 1 year

You can turn the notices off. Then you wont get any pop-ups saying "ACHIEVMENT UNLOCKED" or "Zuul13 is now ONLINE". I think it's under personal settings then notifications

I doubt he'll even do that you know who makes a post stating they dont like achievements? like anyone cares if you dont like them, hes mommy and daddy dont care about him so he just wanted a lil attention from grown folks on gamespot, its ok bongmonkey next time just play w/ yourself your probabley get more out of that.....

I got mine in july of 07 so is 3 months old, i dunno what gen. that is but....

what if i keep gettin the error after i lose the intercooler?? and i thought it made a pretty big diff. it never got hot, but if it will save a month waiting for my box to get back ill ditch it.
