The Wii is not going to have photo realistic games.. Look at Crysis on pc.. at very high settings its "Almost" photorealistic. I think your definition of photorealistic is wrong. Photo realistic means something looks the same as it does in real life. Crysis is the closest we've come so far and as others have said the Wii is not a powerful machine (but the best :) .. Anyway thats just my opinion.. The Wii will have games with awesome graphics but never photo realistic..
BUT actually let me tell you where I am coming from. Manhunt 2 got banned in UK. That means there is NO pal release. That means i cannot play it EVER(regardless of the quality of game).. So it could easily happen!! All it needs is for the UK to say wait a minute, this is violent and look you chop peoples heads off all reall like.. Yeah.. i leave it there.
Well the ESRB are already in censor the Wii mode.. And as each day passes i see more and more ESRB stories which basically screw the gamers in the end. ESRB are not going to like the whole hitman and killing people with swords when you are doing it with a Wii remote. Look, i really really really hope they don't do anything to this game but my post was more that i do worry about this game and others. Yes, you are right. Games are art. And it sounds like most of us are resposnible. As a responsible human being who has never hacked off anyones head in real life (but thousands of times in games) i demand the ESRB quit ruining games.
Sure, if a game glorifies suicide bombing and sends out hypno waves to brainwash people then ban the game. But games aren't like that. Not at all.
I had a terrifying thought this morning on the way to work. What if the ESRB ban the PAL version of No More Heroes. I'm really excited about the game but its meant to be very violent so i'm worried. I keep seeing news stories on how the Wii motion controls are so harmful because they can stimulate actual violent acts. Which is pure bull in my opinion.
What this is coming down to is a violation on my right to freedom of choice. As an adult i should choose which games i can play, not some stuff board who probably only play solitaire..
If the ESRB ban this game i will hunt each one of them down and murder them in a torturous way. Not because video games have made me violent but rather because the ESRB don't know anything about what they are doing and are censoring my favourite games. (its a joke but i hope you see my point).. Its not games that cause people to do terrible things, its terrible people. This whole censorship and banning thing makes we sick? I thought be lived in a democracy where we can choose what we want to consume.
I had so much more to say but i'm getting angry now so i will leave it.
Yeah i was a pc gamer (well still am) but i love my Wii. The controls are fantastic, the first party titles are fantastic..
But i think the two most important things on the wii are the amazing controls and the amount of fun you can have with it when you get a few friends together. Don't get me wrong, a silent deathpatch on pc is awesome but it will never compare to jumping around the room laughing and swearing.
It would be nice if the graphics were better but it really doesn't bug me. The gameplay is amazing. And it looks better than gamecube. I think they decided on the lower graphic option to test their idea out. Just imagine what the Wii 2 will be like.
