hey man i think i ran into the same problem not the artifacting but when i would be watching blu ray i would get a dip in audio like it would just cut out every twenty seconds for a few seconds i just went to the xmb and did the restore default seetings and its worked fine ever since not sure what could have caused it. let me know if it works

i tried this too i think its because most monitors dont support HDCP i think its called . which basically lets you play hd content on a standard monitor, the reason why it works with your RGB cables is because its an analogue signal, similar to if you use VGA at the wrong resolution on your monitor your monitor will probably still display the image, this is an analogue signal. when done completly digitally (via HDMI/DVI) it will either recieve it or reject it no in between. it should work if you use compontent cables on your monitor
