Games are products. You create them in order to sell. Give gamers what they want and go the distance at the same time. On the issue of Doom 3, you keep the game it was originally with the OPTION to change it for those that want to.
That is the point of a new edition. Not only a rerelease but also new features to stack on top of the game. It's plain and simple; gamers will buy it if they like it. It is not a service, it is not an art. It is a product. Games have always been made with the player in mind. That is why you have different control schemes, a controller, genres, and DLC.
@lance_7 He is saying he bought it used because he could return it if he didn't like it. That is the major benefit of used. A brand new game can not be returned/exchanged for something else and it will only get worse if they force you to register the game. Then, you can't even exchange it for another copy just like PC games. This is going to suck....
@ExtremePhobia: I think people see that trailer and expect the game to be more story driven and cinematic. A close up of what each soldier is going through just before a big fight. Just like in the trailer. When you play the game, it is run and gun. Non-stop action and very little slow down. So, while a great action game, it lacks depth of story and character. It sacrifices that cinematic story for a fast paced kick ass gameplay. Which is not what the trailer portrayed.
@Oozyrat I agree with you that MW2 didn't look that fantastic. Textures were so washed out and crappy looking. RE5 has some great looking textures but Final Fantasy XIII is the best looking game graphically. Textures/lighting/effects are all amazing. Bioshock Infinite...? Meh. I'm not too happy about it and DS2. I really need to see more. EA dissapoints me a lot. lol
Not much difference. I am going to school for this stuff and I only agree with GS on ONE thing. COD textures on the gun in the last shot for PS3 are not as detailed. The problem is not colors or textures. The problem stems from the developer creating the game specifically for one system. Since 360 came out first, Dev kits were learned first and porting it to the other system causes problems sometimes. I lose a lot of respect for GS for allowing themselves to give in to that BS about textures and whatever. IMHO though...the PS3 looked better in most of the shots simply because of better lighting. Whatever system you have, you should compare your exclusives to the other systems exclusives and to be blunt, I haven't seen a better looking game than Uncharted 2.
