30 FPS
I've had it since midnight and the 30 fps doesn't stop you from playing at allllll. It doesn't freeze and it may stutter for like a millisecond maybe 2 or 3 times a whole game but i don't know why people were saying the kick offs were terrible on the ps3 cuz of 30 fps becuz i haven't experienced one stutter or freeze. Of course it's not as good as 60 FPS but unlike NCAA where i felt like i just wasted 60 dollars on a slow boring game (even the menus were slow), MADDEN IS NOT NCAA.
Animations/graphics
The gang tackling is awesome this yr. Even if the computer hits the guy first u can come in and dive at them and hit the crap out of the guy too. the new manual catching is sick, u can choose how to catch the ball even tip the ball in the air and then catch it. Also the WR's will jump up to catch high passes and then if it was very high they will fall down very realistically, especiall in the end zone. Running the ball really feels like your running the ball, you juke through defenders and actually sway and lean away from your blockers so you just don't bounce off of them like last gen. I even caught my running back take his arm and lean ona run blocker in front of him and then hop backwards so i could go through a hole. The taunting and celebration animations are smooth and transition very good, makes you feel like your on the field getting taunted by players. One of the coolest things I've seen was when I returned a kick off in the rain and I ran to the middle then cut back outside and I slipped from the rain and slid on one knee then got back up without anyone touching me and then ran it up the sideline, juked the last defender and he slipped and fell down and I ran in for the TD. That's how realistic the graphics and animations are....I'm not overrating them, people are just way to high demanding for the PS3 game that's a year younger in development than the 360 version.
Gameplay
Like every one else is saying, the weapons feature is a big plus for madden. It makes you feel like your star players actually get recognized in the game finally. Other years it would say that star players will have advantages, but to actually see and have a feature focused on this makes it much better. It's not overwhelming at all either because they limited it to 4 weapons at a time on each team, so if you are playing the patriots you won't look at the weapons cam and see 10 players with a weapon. Jukes and cuts and spins work great and the branching animations really do work. Players will get their feet in bounds and you can stop them from just running out of bounds. The pocket really feels like a pocket now. You can't run backwards 15 yards and then chuck the ball, the pocket will collapse and you will get slammed. The AI is actually very good in this game. If you play with a low ranked team you will get challenged. The AI is smart and now with "smart weapons" they can read your offenses and defenses so you cant do the same plays over and over again like other maddens. There are a few flaws like fumbles. Fumbles will occur maybe 2 to 3 times a game, but it is NOTHING like NCAA where you'll have 8 turnovers in a game. The final scores seem pretty realistic, nothing like 70-56 but also nothing like 6-3, so its realistic but still not SO realistic that it isn't fun and you can still score.
Sound/Presentation
The commentary is pretty boring. The guy does actually get excited when big plays happen but it's still just a radio announcer without color commentary backing it up. The marshall Faulk edition isn't a bonus feature, he says maybe 10 words about the two teams and then shows a score he thinks the outcome will be. If EA used espn commentators, I truelly believe every review score would go up at least a whole point. The sound is great on the field as i said before. You can hear trash talking and when a player gets called for a penalty you can hear them complaining and trying to talk the ref out of it. The sounds of the hits and tackling are really nice. It makes you feel like you really hit somebody as hard as you see it. One other nice little improvement is when you throw a big pass play, anew sound effect comes over the game where it almost muffles sounds andthen when the balls about to be caught there's a nice "impact" sound when the ball hits your hands.
Overall
Finally a next gen madden has been made with out cutting down on the features of the game. Superstar is back with better camera angles and dynasty mode is back---without the features like picking ticket prices---but still with depth and nice recruiting. This is a game where if you are a fan of madden or a fan of football, you will play it at least until the football season is over. It has lasting appeal and I actually played 3 "exhibition"games in a row last night which is rare for me because I like to jump into a dynasty, but just playing quick games actually entertains you because of all the new animations you find. I actually found my self saying "wow, that was awesome" to myself as i was playing because you find different animations that YOU perform not the computer. Overall don't listen to the reviews about the 30 FPS because it really doesn't make a difference unless you are playing them side by side. Gameplay isn't effected and the graphics, new animations, and the dynasty mode makes it great.
Score: 8.5....close to 8.6
Bruno don't even talk anymore....my friend was in the madden tourny a couple of yrs ago and went to hawaii and his friends are even more elite players and they get copies of madden and ncaa like 2 weeks before every one else. So yes you can get madden if you have connections before the retailers sell it and its not illegal, illegal would be getting it from a RETAIL STORE before it wasn't released by the RETAIL STORE.
PS....Another guy on here had it like last week, and he had a lot of pics of the game and a created player with the name changed to one of the losers doubting him on the forum. sooooo this whole 3page post is a waste.
Toshiba believe or not is actually right up there with sony in quality and performance. Most TV's from manufacturers injapan come from the same factory anyways like sony and samsung. I've researched big time about tv's ever since i got a ps3 and i have to say that Sony Toshiba and Sharp are very very good. the new Sharp 32" 1080p is actually my favorite right now, i saw it right next to the 32" sony and 32" samsung and the sony and sharp looked amazing while the samsung wasnt as bright with colors but still a good tv. I say save up for the sharp or wait a little longer and save up for the more expensive sony.
P.S--The sharp 32" 1080p has 10,000:1 contrast ratio and 6ms (destroys the sony and samsung specs).
I think it was gametrailers, I was just checking out the latest madden videos and there was a video of one of the produces (not david ortiz) but at first it looked like him and he was talking about the new features of the game and how in the introductions the "weapon" players have special visuals to make them stand out for the gamer to know they are weapons and then he says something very close to this..."I'm very excited about this game, it runs fast and smooth and now we've bumped up the ps3 version to 60 fps the game runs great and better than any madden before."
If any one has seen ths videoPLEASE link it cuz i've been trying to find it after seeing the latest "madden is 30 fps confirmed" thread thats pissing me off, and now it's driving me crazy i can't find the video...and I DID see a video with that. It's not a mistake.
Wow all you people are arguing about something completely false. There's a video out from EA by the executive producers saying that they bumped it up to 60 FPS easily and its stable and they are very excited about the 2 versions (360 and ps3)
Ill try to find the video
