May 2012, you heard it first here. ;)

Boba_Fett86
I am beginning a chant of "May 2012, May 2012"!!! Although November makes an overwhelming amount of sense. But in this day and age there seems to be a larger sense of urgency with technology. And now with all the systems clamoring for the "casual" gamer market, Nintendo will have greater pressure to get the Wii U in the hands of consumers before the next E3 where the 360 and PS3 will surely be showing off similar technologies to say "we can do that too!"

So right now after the WiiU reveal, I'm feeling a little like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raTts-iGixU

So I wanted to speculate on just how long I, and those of you like me, will be feeling like this.

To do this I thought it was reasonable to look at Nintendo's history of time in between their console's public reveals and releases.

Gamecube
  • Reveal: August 2000 http://www.gamespot.com/news/2619333/nintendo-gamecube-announcement-recap
  • Release: November 2001

Wii

  • Reveal: May 2005 http://wii.ign.com/articles/116/1167582p1.html
  • Release: November 2006

WiiU

  • Reveal: June 2011

So judging by this, we can reasonably expect the WiiU to appear November 2012, which is a very, very, long time for me to wait. So instead of expecting what would be a reasonable prediction of the WiiU's release date, I'd rather speculate on a sooner release date.

I will use this interview to fuel this fire that maybe the Nintendo WiiU will be released Next Spring. It's been stated that the WiiU's release window will be in between April 2012 and December 2012 which leaves the possibility of the WiiU being released sometime next Spring. In response to the question of the Wii's sales in this interview, Reggie Fils Aime stated, "I continue to believe that the Wii will have a strong summer, fall, holiday season and we are going to continue to drive the Wii part of our business."http://venturebeat.com/2011/06/12/nintendo-fils-aime-interview/Next Spring is suspiciously missing from that statement. Spring isn't typically a strong time to release new video game hardware since its so far from the holiday season, but that didn't stop the 3DS from being released this last Spring. Could Nintendo be following suit with the 3DS' release date and releasing the WiiU in the Spring of 2012. Please god?

Seriously, XBOX's E3 presentation SUCKED. It was incredibly dry and underwhelming and did nothing new. A new Halo? Didn't see that coming. Star Wars gets a Kinect port that seems just as responsive as all other Kinect games, so hardly responsive or accurate, X-box Live gets a few new features and then they reveal a couple of sequels and reboots. I'd call that a failure to impress. Meanwhile, Nintendo reveals a console that is admittedly quirky, underdeveloped and with no real games to display on it, but at least its something new. The presentation of the WiiU was pretty confusing that left many asking questions, but the introduction of new hardware and new games for the Wii and the 3DS should gain more praise than XBOX's lackluster presentation right? Wrong. Critics are already blasting Nintendo's presentation, scoffing at everything on stage while sinking their teeth into XBOX's bland material. But that's how its always been. Whether XBOX is up against Nintendo or Sony, EVERYONE LOVES the XBOX. Oh, XBOX is supporting the failing HDVD format for their discs? We love them anyway! Oh, XBOX has you pay monthly for their online service? And theyre the only console who does this? We love them anyway! Oh, XBOX has serious design flaws that cause the entire system to break with the flash of a red ring? And there's no definitive warranty protection for this? We love them anyway! I'll just go buy another system!!

Seriously, what kind of brainwashing drugs has XBOX put in the water? Jeez

The Wii has shown zero growth since 2008

Nintendo is on it's 3rd year of absolutely no growth at all for the console, they tried their best to save it but all that's done is cost Nintendo millions of dollars.

It's not unexpected for people to remark on what's happening

Yeah, the Wii really blew up in a way that left them no where to go but down (in growth that is). To achieve financial growth after the Wii boom would require another console phenomenon equivalent to the Wii. But having said that, Nintendo's still a pretty safe bet when it comes to investment. 360's been a sure shot and PS3 had a terribly rocky start, but both are seeing gradual growth and I think will continue to steadily rise since they both took the safe route of investing in traditional gaming systems for the next generation of technology. Since we're still in that generation, these systems will continue to see profits. Nintendo, on the other hand, will continue to offer "must-have" gaming experiences and once they combine this with the current generation of technology, they will see an incredible peek in growth again. And its safe to say that Nintendo will find great gains in their next console since there is no next generation of technology for the 360 or PS3 to take advantage of.

1st thing: Graphics

  • There's no future for the Wii to really cater to graphics-wise.
  • Home-television technology needs to harness a new technology before they can prepare a future much more advanced than 1080p HD.

2nd thing: Processing

  • Moore's Law

The 360 and PS3 can attempt to up their horse-power in preparation for the future but really what can you do when better processor's will be out the very next year. Nintendo has been playing it right actually, they've observed Moore's Law of technological advancements and they've decided they're not gonna play that silly game of catch up. No matter what anybody puts out, its processing technology will be obsolete in a couple years. Nintendo just skips that whole process by coming out with already obsolete technology and highlighting the unique experience its console offers, not the "cutting edge" technology.

Seriously, has this guy made one rational analysis of the video game market? The guys been talking sh** about the Wii since its existance and the Wii just now fell below the 360 and PS3 in sales this year. Since the Wii's creation, Nintendo has seen an unfathomable amount of sales of the console, sales numbers that the 360 and PS3 are still incredibly far from reaching. If there's been any video game company to invest in, its certainly been Nintendo, but instead Pachter keeps implying the contrary and he continues to. Can he not admit he's wrong or is he really that stupid?

K so I've searched the net for an hour looking for a straight answer, and I can't seem to get one.

I just got a Mitsubishi 1080p DLP and hooked the Wii up to it by component cables.

Two BIG Problems:

1) Lag- It was pretty bad before I put it on "game mode", "game mode" helped a lot, but didn't fix it.

2) No 1:1- It seemed that my motion controls weren't 1:1 anymore. That the further I pointed left or right, the further off sync my Wii Remote was with the cursor's positioning. This seemed to be a result of a "stretched" picture but I can't be sure.

So my question is...has anybody else noticed this?

The lag sucks even on game mode, and the image does seemed stretched cause its not 1:1 motion tracking anymore. Its really defeating the purpose of my Wii right now. Does anybody play their Wii on a 55" and above TV and experience this?

Also in my searching, I found this as a possible solution, a 1080p upscaler:

http://www.vdigi.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.product_details&product_id=21&aff_id=3&textad_id=1&vmcchk=1&Itemid=53&showall=1

but for some reason some other websites say it increases lag? Seems contrary to the products purpose.

If anyone knows a solution to my lag/1:1 issue I would greatly appreciate it. Is this device ^ a cure? I don't care about graphics, I know the Wii wasn't meant for HD graphics- I just want fluid controls back!!

[QUOTE="ngrodamus"][QUOTE="ferrari2001"]That was one of the dumbest videos ever. It's just a 4 second loop playing over and over again. What is the point exactly. Hockey_Slayer

Look beyond the loop...its like a hidden picture you have to stare at long enough to reveal the other image...

Is the image stupidity?
