wiiu for 300 bucks? i wouldnt be surprized it they started that way but then pricing droppign it to 250 (kinda like a quick price drop like 3ds did). If so, the marginal gain for 50 bucks in many consumers minds would be justified..as in paying 50 bucks more for a 'new generation' percieved console. You can debate if wii u is a nextgen or not all you want, but a new product in the eyes of consumers will be a big 'pro'. So i think itll month by month outsell the xbox if its marketed right and if its only 250. If its 300 bucks...fans will buy it, and the general consumer population will hold off. This isnt to bad mouth the 360 (or ps3 or anything else)..its doing fantastic, its just nintendo products generally try to target and attract a specific demographic of a market (in which the demographic is actually quite large ie. families, children..most of the population is individuals under age 18). Its like apple, its initial demographic was hip, young, modern, elegant people (rather than businesses you used the old windows mobile and RIM services), however the demographic apple targets is quite large and it makes large sales, much like nintendo. Both ways, i consider a wii a supplement console. 'Gamers' will always get the powerhouse, however they may own a wii as well for their children or for games to reminese when they were younger (mario, zelda, etc.)..

time will tell.

the ps3 has a slow start but most of my friends surprizingly own a ps3 now (as well as an xbox). Generally buying games for each system in which whatever more friends has for that system. Hasnt the ps3 caught MS in sales despite the earlier launch date of xbox 360? Im not 100% positive but i dont think both systems are a failure. Yes, the ps2>ps3. Everyone and their grandma's had ps2's...it was the system. But I remember during highschool everyone having psp's too (yeah, they have ds's as well..and yes DS's are WAYYY more popular). But still, the Playstation portable competeted WELL with nintendo. I mean the psp sold over 70 million..thats a prize. So I do think sony went downhill a little after ps2..as expected since truimphing the ps2 is difficult. Also sony had a slow start with format battles, late launch and price (granted these were tactical mistakes that could have been avoided)..I think sony is doing fine. I think this generations handheld battle with make or break sonys decision to make a psp3 or vita2 or whatever itll be called

EDIT: PS3 sales are 62 million while 260 is 65.8 and psp sales are 71.3 millon... Playstation brand is bring in more revenue compared to MS..and Nintendo is killing them all..Still. Compared to ps2's 154.4 million sold these numbers are medicore..still it shows Playstation brand is still Relevant and strong..just not a monpoly.

Its comparable to Windows OS..A few years back, MAC OS was never really spoken of..just in trendy cooperate offices and schools, Yet now mac's are prestige products and go on any college campus and you will see more macs and ipads over PC's..granted PC numbers are higher do to cooperate reasons..but i wonder if that will change..Point being is in this analogy, Windows in early 2000's and 90's were a monopoly product..everyone has it..Today, you see diversity. And thats what the PS brand it facing..more diversity in the market. Its all relevant and good though standing from an economic (both formal and informal sense of the meaning) standpoint :)

(yeah its fun to play with a group of people when your wasted in a dorm...other than that..not so much). And kinect is just awful imo..and i was an old man pass out in bestbuy while playing it..

to do the hack you seriously have to know programming, you actually have to change a code in the ps3 system. Basically, only nerdy programmers are gonna end up doing this. Its not like the psp or iphone where literally ANYONE could do it. As for the games dying? i mean i doubt it, so you can inflate trophies...who cares...if i see someone whos level 10000 im gonna know they hacked or...they have no life and play games all day (plus im only friends with people i actually know on psn). i dont think the ps3 will die, I strongly think they will be able to fix it, and keypoint certain hackers and take action. Yes i do think the lawsuits and actions sony is doing to GeoHot is harsh, but its gonna set an example, and example that is gonna make normal people like me and you NOT jailbreak the ps3. It is scary and if it is blown out of proportion then it will be bad for the ps3. But look at psp, everyone claims its a dead system, but it still sold over 60million units, and software companies are still creating fresh games for it (god of war franchise, metal gear solid, little big planet, etc). the real problem with psp comes hardware support, the lack of a second analog stick really kills it, thats really why its also failing. If modern warfare games would release on the thing, it would do better because aged 12-24 people would want it (demographically speaking). As for iphone, literally everyone i know has a jailbroken iphone/itouch...or they choose not to buy any apps. Yet app dev's are making bank off selling their products. Why? because theeres still a LARGE population of people that still buy games. As for the ps3, even more limitations are placed on jailbreaking it. So you jailbreak it and download a game..then what..metal gear solid 4..as a compressed file (mind you) is about 34 gigs. Now for players with 40,60,80 system, they will only be allowed to play 2 games..MAX on their systems. (and mind you this is a comprsesed file of the game). Now sony can potentially fix this problem in future models of ps3 (which im almost positive they are at least trying). and in the East, they are outsourcing ps3 labor, hence japan/china sales will increase causing more people to have ps3 (in terms of sales)....also, japan is known for their population for ACTUALLY buying games rather than jailbreaking (look at psp sales)... Overall, its certainly a dent on sonys part...but i highly doubt it will die.

a few years ago i hated ps3 and how noone had mics. But whats the point of a mic, both on ps3 and xbox its just little kids yelling and cursing..its annoying. My friend and I will sometimes play and we have a mic so we can just talk casually. To be honest, many games people do have mics on psn..the only game i have EVER felt the need to talk to someone in, is socom, and every person has a mic in that game. So yeah, while xbl is better than psn (or at leeast it better be, otherwise what are you paying for). I am fully content with psn, i dont NEED to talk to people i play with, playing is a way of entertament, not communicating imo.
