I've been a big fan since the early days. I really liked the last game in 2009, it wasn't cutting edge or ground breaking by any means but I enjoy the storyline and boss fights very much. The scifi FPS genre is near and dear to my heart from back in the early days of Doom and Duke Nukem. I'm not big on multiplayer either and I think trying to please everyone has ruined a lot of good games. I'm looking forward to this game, hopefully it will worthy of my time.
I'm seriously considering skipping the next generation of consoles. Sadly the games lack originality and are overly expensive. I did recently purchase a PS3 after owning a Xbox 360 for several years. I am enjoying going through the back catalog right now at about 10$-20$ a game used. I predict the next generation is going to flop and if they don't allow used games it will be the death nail for the next generation. I plan on enjoying the current generation for some time to come until I see the next generation is worth my time and money. The industry has done it to themselves. Unless they make quality games while keeping their overhead down there will be more people in the unemployment line. Of course Microsoft and Sony don't help matters either with how expensive they make it to develop for each platform. Great article!
Unfortunatly smart phones and tablets have taken over the mobile market. I know Sony can come out with a game system/waffle maker. This way you can game while you wait for breakfast. ;-)
