I won't say I disagree (I think it's better to go with a console if you don't like upgrading) but it's important to keep in mind that console games generally only run at 720p (and sometimes even lower than that.) I'm pretty sure even a 7800 GTX could run Crysis at mostly high settings using such a pathetic resolution..

Exactly. Even back in 2005, most PC gamers played in resolutions higher than 1280x720 (at least 1280x1024) or below that which almost all console games run at now.

I'll never get the PC gaming thing, i've never played a PC game and i never had the urge to, consoles were always easier to play and control and in my opinion they been keeping up graphically just fine. So this argument about PC gaming versus console gaming i know will never end but in my opinion it shouldn't even exist, consoles are just better, easier to control, easier to hook up to a TV and faster to load and play, it's a no brainer as far as i can see.RPG-explorer

And AnnoyedDragon makes a very good point (when does he not?) about console's success. They look better on the outside but are in more dire straights than you think and the opposite goes for PC, its doing better than most people think.

If you built a budget PC back in 2005 when the 360 came out would it still be capable today for gaming? A budget gaming PC back then was something like a Geforce 6800 which had a price of just over $100.00. Everyone that bought a 360 back then can still play all the games and they still look great. A geforce 6800 today is worthless. One major advantage of a console. The high end video card at that time was the 7800 gtx and even that is pretty much worth less today and had a price of over $550.00

Do note that console games are still running at 720P or below native resolution with many effects and such turned off, many games at 30fps at the most. They use techniques to cover up their technical inferiority like bloom and blur. Optimization has done wonders for them, the consoles.

Im not gonna say any system is better but pc owners do need to stop with the PC is the best comments. Its not, its just as good. Sadly many dont seem to get that good graphics arent needed for good games. Give me spyro the dragon over crysis anydayRespawn-d

Here is what happens. When the PC is out of the picture, the 360/PS3 fanboys are all about technical prowess, and laugh the Wii off. When the PC enters the equation, then they go all "gameplay >>> graphics" on you. Please.

And then what is wrong with PC gamers thinking their platform is superior? We are elitist jerks for that? What about PS3 owners who think their better than 360 owners, or both of them thinking their better than Wii owners? Hypocrites, all of you!

I did after having a PS3 which broke after 2 weeks and a 360 which I only played GTA4 on. I had wanted to build my own PC since I was a child and finally had the money to do so. I've been a mix of console and PC gamer and also switch my fanboy loyalties depending on whatever I own. So far, I am a PC fanboy but may go back to consoles later on.

I do feel bad that the HDTV I bought for the PS3 and now the 360 are both collecting dust when so many would kill to have that. Their really just sitting there, being useless. : (

Shame you have such nice hardware (if your not lying), and not making use of it. Go back to your consoles then and give that PC to someone more deserving.
