Story is what makes a game interesting.

Skyrim has a better hero leveling system, and great graphics. Its fighting mechanism is also better than previous TES games.
Besides, with the removal of Hero choices (Warrior, Mage, etc.) from the game start, they've turned the game into a more play-like-you-feel type without any restrictions. From what I've seen of Skyrim, the world looks great. And as long as the story is better.. or even as good as Morrowind, it should win GOTY. Unless of course, Gamespot decides to award LA Noire or some other game, probably for advertising reasons. ME2 was awesome last year, came 2nd in everything, won almost nothing.
Considering Mass Effect isn't coming out in 2011, I think it's Skyrim or nothing.[QUOTE="donalbane"][QUOTE="indzman"]
I'm so glad Dark Souls getting 9.5 on GS PLUS awesome player reviews all over . Its such a great and challenging game . Dark Souls already beat The Witcher 2 , Deus Ex HR success records and is being considered as GOTY 2011 .
Which rpg can beat Dark Souls record ? Skyrim or Mass Effect 3 ?
Discuss :)

I honestly fear if Skyrim goes the route of Oblivion then I have to say I will highly be disappointed, if Skyrim goes the Morrowind route (more open, different areas/terrain ect ect) then Skyrim will be hands down the best RPG this year.
Agree on that, Morrowind was simply awesome. Had Morrowind been made in 2011, with the same story but better graphics, etc. it would be my GOTY for sure.
why do people forget that they are not the only people on the planet. If you want to play a game solely for mechanics, then be my guest, but don't talk like you are the only one on the planet to enjoy a game. There are those (me for example) who enjoy Character development (you know the REAL character development, not ooh a plus 2 sword enhancement), actual ROLE-PLAYING (not ooooh, another monster to kill), a detailed and rich plot with a great story and as Adrian put it, emotions.
There's is a reason why planscape torment is well regarded and loved, Baldur's gate 2 adored, and ultima revered and it wasn't becuase we slayed x amount of baddies and obtained x amount of loot and died over and over again.
I enjoyed and beat dark souls. I also love the game. But I will take witcher 2 anyday over dark souls and that's because dark souls didn't make me think of the concequences of my choices, the lives of the people I changed and the overall effect my choices had on the world. The witcher 2 did that for me.
THERE was a moment during my playthrough of the witcher 2 where I paused, and got of my chair to think for a while before making a major decision. When a game does that to you, that's when you know that you have a real Rpg in your hands.

I totally agree with you. RPG is about better story line and ability to do what you feel like, to me atleast. And Skyrim seems to be the best looking RPG of the year. Dark Souls is a good game and all (I haven't played it), but it doesn't seem to have any choices or any decisions taken in game which have relevance as the game progresses. Which makes it more the GTA/AC type game, hence action adventure. Okay it might have a better fighting system than Skyrim, but Skyrim beats it everywhere else. Having multiplayer doesn't mean its a better game. IMO RPG's like TES, Dark Souls, Dragons Age and even ME don't need mutliplayer. What's the BIG point about leaving messages others can me, looking at others ghosts running around and dying? I mean, for a Role Playing game that focuses on your own game, that is rather lame.
Besides Darks Souls difficulty level is high. So it doesn't really cater to the large gaming community. If a few people enjoy the game, and rate it 10, the rest (majority of the gamers) find it unplayable and rate it 2.0. Skyrim is released for the entire gaming community, not a select 10-20 players with special gaming skills that can beat off any difficulty levels. Saying this game and that game pushes difficulty limits is really a stupid reason. I'm sure BGS could make an unplayable game, but whats the point in that?
As for comparing Oblivion to Skyrim. The game was released in 2006. Skyrim in 2011. Demons Souls in 2009, Dark Souls in 2011. Naturally Demons Souls would look and sound better than Oblivion.

This is another article which makes absolutely no sense. Someone comparing Oblivion to Skyrim. I'd go ahead and say Morrowind has a way better story than both Dark Souls and Demon Souls, and the game was released way back in 2002.
yea i agree with this guy. why cant some people do some research on both consoles. its really not hard to do[QUOTE="o0HAPPY0o"]
Are you not capable or mature enough to make up your own mind instead of relying on biased information from fan-boys?

There is something called an opinion, if you don't have one, move along, no one asked you to stop and post. I did enough research, but sometimes, research simply isn't enough.

LittleBigPlanet and Heavy Rain are nothing like Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolt and Alan Wake. :|
darn you.. i just saw that and deleted my post. You were too quickWell in that case its Alan Wake vs Heavy Rain. Since I don't really enjoy 3-D platformers. Well games I would like to try out would be LA Noire, RDR, Gears of War 3, Halo Reach, God of War 3, etc. since they aren't really available on PC. Unchartered 2 looked cool, but I dint like what I saw of 3. Though my most anticipated game of the year would be Skyrim, and ME3 next year. Dark Soul is available both on PS3 and Xbox though.
Well, yes I agree on the support thing. I had an original Xbox, but its worthless now since you don't get those games anymore, whereas PS2 games are still easily available.
Then again, that was another generation, this is different. Microsoft might support the 360 for some time this time around. Besides, all consoles do get outdated after a while. PS3's advantage is that it supports blu ray.
But game wise, only PS3 specific games I think worthwhile so far are God of War 3 and Uncharted. I'd prefer God of War over Gears of War and Reach, but since the series has ended...
Another thing, last time, Mass Effect 2 delayed its release on PS3 till this year I guess?
