Mmm... DeadSpace and Amnesia had been done to death (pun) in streamings & lets plays and such... But "Call of Cthulhu: Dark corners of the Earth" is acutally not very well known... and up to the 3d or 4th chapter is prrreeeeettty spooky/scary (later it evolves much to just shooter mechanics). I think you should try it. It's cheap on Steam.

@JMaster69 I always thought that the Pre-Russian Revolution period with Rasputin,vthe Romanovs and all was a very good setting (plenty of conspiracies, secret organizations and the like) and of course, the French Revolution also was a fan favorite for a long time.

Beyond the early XXth Century this premise wont work. You must have SOME sort of sword-play that fits in the History context.
