I always knew that people on SW over analyzed everything about games but this thread takes it to a new low.

The root meaning of nostalgia is to remember the pain of an old wound. It is one thing to recall the past fondly, another to dwell on it as though times will never be better then that.

Your point is just anal, at best. It's one thing if you are spending money you don't have but an extra couple hundred dollars to get a shiney new console at launc is worth every cent. They are always the most powerful machine I own and it just plain fun. It won't be like that if I wait. My new console gets maybe one or two years before I buy a PC and it's just not the same after that. Don't get me wrong I still love the console, but I would not trade the memories for a few hundred bucks that's for sure.

If you have the money I don't know how any gamer could not want that new console right away if they are fan of the platform.

First of all, TC = Fanboy

Second, kind of good point with the launch consoles, but there are always good games at launch.

BTW, the Wii had some problems at first, some Wiis with the GC games, and some others with Wii games, not to mention some issues with the hardware like the slot for the memory card.

At the current rate I would give it 2 generations.

Firmware updates are more like Bios updates on the PC. You don't really need them to keep playing games but they make your system more stable overall.

New PC games require the lastest videocard drivers.

umm u kinda do, especially if ur gonna play online, psn for example doesent allow u to play a game until u update to the latest firmware, and no one updates their bios that i know of really...
and u said drivers, as in software, not hardware,
yes u can play single player without the firmware update, but it might be glitchy whereas otherwise it wont, u also have to download patches, so ya.... quit console gaming....

really people need to stop yeah the cell helps but ps3 still really cant handle it either try to make a game that looks like gears with true cloth simulation on the ps3 its not gonna happen. truth is 360 and ps3 are closer in power than people would like to think there almost the same the pros and cons even them out.

Firstly, prices are very high, 2ndly, games arent the best and personally can be waited to be played
3rd and most important: consoles might be faulty

ps2s disc read error and recently 360's rrod
after they see the problem the companys fix it when the 2nd or 3rd wave of consoles come out.
Isint it much safer to get a console like a year after they start making it.

i waited until this september to get my ps3 and then 360. SO far no problems.
Iv heard the old 60 gig ps3 had problems with gta4 and stuff. also it cost 600 :P
whereas i got my 80gig from some redneck off ebay for a cool 380 bucks.
Im pretty ok with having to wait. It was a good deal.

either way, when both systems came out, there wernt many games that i was like zomg i must play it now....
i hope next gen comes around, people are smarter and wait.
also games might come out and get the zomg next gen score that is way to inflated then the game actually is

Basically when good games come out, thats when u get a system.
ITs cheaper, safer and their is minimal loss to it.

Hell i bet you alot of my lemmings are only lemmings cause they couldent wait to get a next gen system :P and woulda bought a ps3 if it came out at the same time, unless they really like halo that is...

oh besides the wii, i dont think it had many problems, but for a piece of **** that's hardware isint really anything but 2 gamecubes mashed together at most (imo that is) , i dont think they had to stabalize much....
