Really though? This thread is disappointing.

Anyway @Pedro Doom came out 3 days later, sold on three platforms and only managed to come in second. Overwatch, with it's amazing hype, came in third on the same three platforms. These games couldn't overtake a game that launched on a single platform. It's impressive and there's no real reason trying to down play it.

My thoughts exactly, Doom is a well known/established franchise and Overwatch had the BETA / Blizzard hype. Both games being multiplat and yet they still didn't manage to top Uncharted 4.

@Zero_epyon said:

However, Uncharted 4 outselling those two games is not an overstatement. It's a serious accomplishment, much like how Halo 5 was when it did something similar after it released.

C'mon guys, read through the thread first, lol. It's not outselling Overwatch.

Overwatch had 7 million confirmed recorded players after 8 days of launch. The OPs list isn't including Blizzard's biggest source of sales, Digital PC.

It isn't even close or fair for UC4, OW wins with a landslide victory. It's first week is likely more than UC4's full total. This thread is extremely misleading.

That was exactly the same point I was trying to make @zaryia. This thread is extremely misleading since it doesn't include digital PC sales.

Here's a quote from the article you linked in the OP.

These monthly NPD reports only keep data on a small part of the industry. The firm gets its info from new sales made at physical U.S. retailers, so a lot of the $99.6 billion gaming industry isn’t represented here. But the report is still useful in that it informs the decision making at gaming’s biggest publishers.

Most PC sales nowadays are digital whether they're through steam for most games or through Blizzard themselves in the case of Overwatch. Since Overwatch has had over 7 million different players that have been logged since release, Overwatch easily beats Uncharted 4. Sorry to break it to you, but it is what it is.

Uncharted 4 is still a pretty awesome looking game that seems pretty neat. My cousin owns it on his PlayStation 4 and I've watched game play of it from various twitch streamers. Overwatch is just a different kind of beast however.

When I was a kid, I used to watch WCW. Later on, I would watch WWF which is now known as WWE. Around 2006 is when I started watching UFC. Once I was finally witnessing real fighting, the WWE stuff just didn't do it for me anymore. UFC has just became mainstream within the last 10 years. It's still taking time for the next generation of kids to grow up with it. Many people I talk to that are younger highly prefer MMA over boxing for example. WWE still has its place for people that are into story lines, interesting multi man match ups even though the results are predetermined, and the pyrotechnics involved in wrestler entrances.

What's special about UFC to me is like yesterday for example where one of the fighters was getting demolished almost finished off in the first round but then ends up destroying their opponent unexpectedly in a later round. I'm not saying any specific names so I don't spoil any of the fights for anyone that hasn't watched yesterday's event but I'm just saying that for example.

I watch UFC for the excitement of having no idea what is going to happen. Sometimes even the guy that on paper seems to have no chance can still win if they pull off the correct strategy to defeat their opponent. Sure, it's off putting to the normal viewer if you just see guys rolling around on the ground. But remember, there are those special magical fights where tons of crazy stuff happens and you're on the edge of your seat the whole way through. Fights like those are why I continue to watch UFC.

There's not too much I can suggest but I feel you should switch out the Nvidia GTX 980Ti and get a Nvidia GTX 1080 instead.

The more advanced computer wizards that hang out around here will be able to give you some other suggestions for your build.

My suggestion is mainly because according to prices right now from some quick web searches, you'll be paying around the same amount of $ whether you get a GTX 980ti or GTX 1080. The difference is, the GTX 1080 is a way bigger boost in performance.

So yeah, my suggestion is to switch out your selected card for the other card I mentioned. Good luck with the rest of your build!

X-Men (TV Series 1992–1997)

I'm not sure if this was canceled like the other shows I'm going to mention. The ending was kind of abrupt. This show did have a decent amount of episodes. It's the longest X-men cartoon out of all of them that have ever aired as far as I know. There were still quite a few mutants not really featured in this series.

X-Men: Evolution (TV Series 2000–2003)

Before this series was canceled, we were most likely going to get some really awesome sagas in the near future. This series was cool because it had some mutants that weren't in the series from the 1990's.

Wolverine and the X-Men (TV Series 2008– )

This series was leading up to season 2 but due to cancellation there's all that build up that is sadly lost. This is an interesting show to check out if you're an X-Men fan.

I do all my gaming on PC only now. Sure, certain games ported to PC are missing features that the console versions may have due to exclusive deals and such but PC can easily reach a much higher ceiling as far as graphics and FPS are concerned provided you have the hardware necessary to run such a setup.

I just don't really find console gaming worth it anymore in my opinion. When I was a child going through my teens, I grew up with Atari, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Playstation, Nintendo 64, Xbox, Playstation 2, and etc. At the time, all the PCs I owned didn't really have the graphics power to run games I would have liked to play and to top it off, the library of available games was a lot more limited until we started getting deep into the 2000's. When I was younger, the only games I owned on PC were Unreal Tournament, Age of Empires, Diablo 2, The Sims, Final Fantasy 7, and Final Fantasy 8. Now with how easy it is to buy PC games on Steam for example, we're in a much different world now compared to back then.

The more time that goes by, there's less and less exclusives for console. Consoles were necessary in the past for everyone in my opinion. Now, unless I'm a die hard fan of some Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo exclusive, I have no desire to ever purchase any of the newer consoles. So yeah, I'm a PC gamer only now unless some super unbelievable amazing game is released that is a specific console exclusive. That's my feelings on this topic.

The companies I probably play games from the most are easily Valve and Blizzard.

As far as valve games go, I have over 2000+ hours into Dota 2 and continue to buy the new compendiums for it when they're released.

As far as Blizzard is concerned, I have Diablo 3 with the expansion and I already ordered Overwatch as well.

I would say though I don't really have any true loyalty to a company. Just because a company makes one great game doesn't mean their future games will be as good.

For example, I stopped playing the Final Fantasy games after Nobuo Uematsu stopped doing the music for them. He was a big part of why I loved that specific series so much. I'm not saying the future games aren't good but I feel the music won't ever live up to the standards Uematsu set in the past but yeah, that's just my opinion though.

The only problem I have with graphics driving games is often times the actual game play will suffer in order to make a game look extremely beautiful. Yes, a game can look immaculate but if it plays like total trash either being far from user friendly or having a story that took little creativity, then it's really like a very pretty game that will attract an audience because people like to look at pretty people or things but the staying power of the game may easily wane once the next beautiful looking game emerges to take its place.

We have games for example where they're full of depth despite having a very small staff and what most would call very bad graphics such as Undertale. A game like this makes up for its bad graphics through all of the rest of the things going on in the game such as the game play, the depth of the characters, the music, and the options the player is given as they progress. Since this is a single player game however, it too will have limited replayability at some point as the player completes everything there is to complete.

This is an extreme example though and ideally graphics should be at some sort of middle ground in my opinion. Things should look good, but the game needs to play well.

Graphics are important to me but I'd rather have a game have much more addicting game play than look nice. Looking nice to me should be a bonus to an already awesome well put together package of a game.

Besides do you know that a new console will put Sony back to install base zero. And Sony again will have to climb back sales wise to make their new console relevant for the developers again. NOBODY will support a new console unless it show groundbreaking sales again, and I don't think Sony will be able to pull out the same bunny from the hat twice. Many Sony gamers, not fanboys like TC, are not very pleased with Sony having discarded them so early. So I doubt that the new console will have the same success as PS4 as people will probably don't trust Sony anymore. Sony promised GAMES. And only decent thing we have so far is just Bloodborne. And after that, PS4 generation has practically ended. Meanwhile PC is now a beacon of stability - we keep our extensive games library no matter what. The only thing that we need to upgrade is GPU every 3 years, which for many is just cheaper and more effective gaming wise than buying a new console every 3 years. The gpu for that money is a powerful beast, meanwhile a console for the same money will bring a just mediocre gpu inside paired with other same or slightly updated mediocre components. On PC we can invest only in those components that we actually need, meanwhile on console you don't have the same luxury - you have to buy the whole package of below average and average components again.

Exactly this.

PS4 owners already had to shell out hundreds of dollars for the original PS4. Now they'd be expected to shell out hundreds of dollars again for an upgraded system? At that rate, someone could have just bought a decent PC for 600$-700$ that could run like all the games the PS4 can. Maybe not at the same graphics at that price point but all the games would run at way better FPS than the PS4 or Xbox One would ever be able to do.

With the GTX 1070 and GTX 1080 coming out soon, the console market really is going to just be for people that want straight plug and play or kids asking their parents for whatever system they seen advertised on television. For anyone that has done the research, switching to PC over any new console in the near future is a complete no brainer. The new graphic cards coming out soon are so much more affordable than cards of the past. The performance for what you pay on PC coming soon is so great that it just makes consoles look very weak. Consoles were great back when PC parts were hard to afford for the average person. Now with building your own PC being way more easily affordable, in my opinion it really only makes consoles worth it if you're a massive fan of an exclusive title it may have.

I have speed ran a few games, one of those including Final Fantasy IV. The only time I ever had the best time in a game was in a Barbie GBA game and that was only because there was no competition in it. After more runners took it up and optimized it, my time was easily beaten.

To get to the top 10 on really popular games, it takes extreme amounts of dedication. The more runners on a game, the more tricks, glitches, and strategies for optimal performance through the game are discovered and used. A game with only a few active runners generally will progress very slowly. A game like Super Mario 64 that has hundreds of speed runners continues to progress much more quickly.

Final Fantasy IV for example a couple years back progressed very slowly in new strategy formation until a new crop of runners began to dissect everything about it. At this point in time there's 3 main routes. In the fastest you can warp directly to the credits from the Dwarf Castle in the underground. The 2nd fastest lets you defeat the final boss in a single attack with a glitched out enemy spell named "uptCo". The older route before these other 2 routes were discovered has you go through most of the game normally yet you still use some glitches in order to get tons of gold (whatever the in game currency is called), weapons you're not supposed to have early, skip a specific boss fight, and continuously revive a certain enemy to gain your one character tons of levels in a single battle which saves a decent amount of time.

Yeah, these are very vague descriptions of that specific game in question. If you're ever interested in speed running any game, the communities are generally pretty friendly. Many speed running communities have discord channels where you can talk to other runners if you're interested in running a specific game. Most speed runners stream live on twitch and if you're genuinely interested in a doing a run, 90% of them will help you out or at least send you in the right direction.
