I'd recommend the Nintendo 64. It has some of my most favorite games on that console. I'll list games I'd recommend below.

  • Super Mario 64
  • Golden Eye (First Person Shooter)
  • Perfect Dark (First Person Shooter)
  • Mario Kart 64 (Racing)
  • Star Fox 64
  • Super Smash Bros. (Fighting Game)
  • Pokemon Stadium Series
  • Mario Tennis (Tennis)
  • Mario Golf (Golf)
  • Mario Party Series (Lots of different mini games)
  • The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time

Depending on what you're into is what I think you should start off with. Alternatively, you could watch some YouTube videos of a game before you try it. Otherwise, you can dive straight in for a complete surprise. It's up to you really. Good luck with whatever choice you decide to choose.

I don't really play single player games much anymore. I feel with how much the internet has exploded both in the amount of people that have it now along with the massive increases in speed, it's much easier to play with your local friends as well as friends you meet around the entire world. Nowadays there are actually professional gaming teams where each of the members are from different countries yet play together as one team under the same name. That in itself is pretty amazing to me.

Personally, I just don't really play single player games now. I just enjoy interacting with other people for better or for worse. It's cool to team up in a game like Overwatch, H1Z1, ARK, Rust, Garry's Mod, or Dota 2 either on Team Speak, Raid Call, or Discord and hang out while chilling together trying to win your match or build your base up.

Yeah, playing games online opens you up to trolls and toxic players entering into your life somewhat but you never have to bring any of those people with you to your next game or to anywhere else in your life. Online gaming is worth it mainly for all the cool people you'll meet where some might even eventually become really legit online friends.

With that being said, I voted for "Online".

For me it has to be the Perfect Dark menu theme. It's either between this or the Donkey Kong Country 2 menu theme. Golden Eye would be another honorable mention for me.

As far as PC games go though, I'd have to say Dota 2's menu theme is my favorite.

I guess when someone refers to someone as a casual they're attempting to give them self an aura of superiority either for their own self confidence or for the people around them if you're playing a team game like let's say Dota 2 for example.

In a game like Dota 2, being called a casual isn't very common as far as I seen. There are equivalent terms to it though. Someone might call someone on their team a low MMR scrub, 1k pleb, or etc.

Any game where you can rank up from winning will cause team mates to look at it as having much more higher stakes. In a way, you doing bad causes them to not get their "reward". Whether or not that reward is simply leveling up, gaining more ELO, or receiving some type of crate or cosmetic. Them calling you some type of name lets them justify to themselves why they lost. It's a psychological thing. Yes, it might have been your fault but sometimes its also their own fault for bad map awareness or bad positioning.

In a game with much less at stake, you're less likely to be insulted for having average skills. People generally like to feel like they're getting a return on their investment in their time. That's why even players that aren't planning on going pro in games still take a lot of games very seriously. I hope this helps with your questions.

My Top 3 Consoles / Cards in no specific order are:

  • Xbox 360
  • Super Nintendo Entertainment System
  • GTX 750 TI

My Worst 3 Consoles / Cards in no specific order are:

  • Wii
  • Integrated Graphics
  • GameCube

It was hard for me to list my 3 worst. The only reason I have the GameCube there is because it launched with Luigi's Mansion and Super Mario Sunshine didn't come around until later on.

My best GPU is the only real GPU I've ever had but I still love how I can play basically any PC game now even if some need to be on low graphics to run smoothly. My worst GPU which isn't really a real GPU, was integrated graphics. Integrated graphics is just so horrible. Most new games aren't able to be launched or they run in slow motion when you don't have a graphics card. At least those days are behind me now.

I had a lot of good times with the Super Mario series. The first Nintendo console I had was the Nintendo Entertainment System.

We had all 3 Mario Bros. games. for the NES. The 2 I played the most were Super Mario Bros. 2 and Super Mario Bros. 3. The 2nd one was the easiest one for me to beat as a kid. I feel Super Mario Bros. 3 was a more well designed game however in my opinion.

For the Super Nintendo Entertainment system, I owned Super Mario World. This game was a lot of fun and reminded me a lot of Super Mario Bros. 3. I had a lot of fun especially because of the Star World and the hidden areas on many of the maps.

The game that had the biggest effect on me though was Super Mario 64. I first came across this game when I was out of state in Pennsylvania at my cousin's. It was the first time I ever seen a 3D Mario game. It was so new at the time and left such an impression on me, I have to say it's my favorite Mario series game.

I haven't tried any Mario games past Super Mario Sunshine, but I have to give honorable mentions to Super Mario Kart, Mario Kart 64, Mario Tennis, and Mario Golf. All those games were awesome.

I'll most likely try to get my hands on a GTX 1070 or GTX 1080 in early 2017. I kind of want to see what everyone thinks about them for a few months before I get one. Though I'm sure one of those will be awesome to have.

It is great that high end cards are becoming much more affordable in the near future. Something at the quality level of the GTX Titan in the recent past was far out of reach for most PC gamers.

The GTX 1080 will make high end gaming much more worth it for the investment. There will be more than just a small few that'll get this card once it hits release I feel.

The future of PC gaming looks much more exciting now for the everyday PC gamer.

The only time I ever felt betrayed on PC was when i bought Dead or Alive Last Round on steam. I was expecting a port of the console version of the game so that I would be able to play with friends in lobby matches.

This version however didn't contain any of the extra stages from the console version and didn't have the ability to do lobby matches which made no sense to me as lobby matches were already coded in every single other version of the game.

As a long time fan of the Dead or Alive series, I felt heavily betrayed by Team Ninja (Koei Tecmo). I know they didn't promise these things necessarily but I have no idea why we wouldn't at least receive lobby matches which you'd think is a basic requirement for modern fighting games. That's just my mini rant. I voted for "Other" by the way.

I really personally feel betrayal is mainly if a company releases a game on multiple platforms but basically hinders the PC version of their game even though the PC version in theory should actually be able to handle the most features out of any version mainly just to make the popular console versions more appealing. Like in this instance for example, the PS4 and Xbox One versions having extra stages while the PC version doesn't.

@hybrenated said:

Why do people play non-exclusives on an inferior system. PCs with power are so cheap these days especially with the 1000 series cards have been announced. Why dont you have a PC, if you dont have one yet. Discuss?

Myself for example, when I had integrated graphics I was able to still get better performance out of a console rather than my PC. So when it came to choosing between my Xbox 360 and my PC, I usually chose the 360.

I've since bought a GTX 750 Ti for my first graphics card ever and I can run most games at pretty good fps at low to medium settings.

Most people do have PCs but don't have graphic cards installed to run the newest games at the same fidelity as their PS4 or Xbox One. Having to purchase a very strong power supply for their PC among other things makes people hesitant on figuring out which high end card to get. Consoles are much more plug and play out of the box. I went for the GTX 750 Ti as my starting card so that I wouldn't need a new power supply. The trade off is there's still many games that I won't be able to run at max settings smoothly.

So to sum up what I've wrote above, many people use consoles over PCs for one main reason. Consoles require much less knowledge to set up. All you need to do is run to the store, buy your console and then buy some games for it. PC often involves a person having to open it up to install extra RAM, a graphics card, a sound card, a power supply, or anything else hardware related that puts a lot of people off generally.

I play all my games on PC now but I understand why a lot of people haven't and won't make the transition for some time.
