I downloaded my update from filefront.  I don't use EA downloader (I hear to many problems about that program).  Download the update from filefront and give it a shot.

For me it was COD: United Offence.

The mission where americans have to capture the german HQ and then hold it and right after that you go to the british side and are a gunner for a bomber (shooting planes left and right, putting out fires before you blow up while being shot at.)

I'm pretty sure you can use only one card.  A lot of video cards are sli ready but that does not mean you have to get two of them.  My card is sli ready and I only have one PCI-E slot available and I runs fine.

2142 is not as good as BF2.  It's close but not enough to get me to play it more then BF2.

I would suggest you download some demo's and see if they run on your computer.  Demo's that are out there are C&C 3, Company of Heros and list goes on and on.  You could probably get some demo's here at gamespot or filefront.com.  Good luck.

You can try "Freedom Fighter".  Not sure of the system requirments but it's an older game.

If you have Vista you can use the "ready boost".  What this does is allow you to use a fast memory flash drive as RAM.  For people who don't have a lot of RAM in there computer and a 2-4 gig flash drive set up for ready boost, there comp. would run better and be able to handle more games.  If you have Vista.

I upgraded to Vista and can play BF2 fine.  The only problem I had was I had to manully update Punkbuster since I didn't play for a couple weeks.  I have an 8800gts graphics card so that maybe why I'm not having any problems (DirectX10).  Have you downloaded updates for your computer hardware (audio, video, motherboard.)  With Vista I still can't use Teamspeak and in-game VOIP at the same time.  One or the other.

DDR is only 184 pin and the DDR2 is 240 pin connection.  DDR 2 can be twice as fast as any DDR RAM.  DDR2 will not fit in a motherboard that was designed for DDR.
