China (today) and the so Sowjet Union haven't got the same level of repression. This is also a result of globalization, because the evolved global community is "watching" carefully about every action in china. I am looking forward to the Olympic games, maybe this will cause more political opening.

In Summary i think that the old formula, free market economy-> slowly evolving middle class-> demand for political rights->democratisation still fit.
