Oh wow, another Spiderman reboot!... It's almost like Eric Cartman in a fake robot suit is the genius coming up with all these amazing Hollywood ideas. Just needs some Adam Sandler.

@Robboninja: It's a useful comparison though. Civ reached an extremely large audience for a strategy game => if it's app, then it helps people understand what kind of game this is shaping up to be.

@fred_evans: Some of us just won't ever bother with classical MMOs. It ruins an otherwise interesting game universe. I've given them multiple tries (WoW, GW2, Warhammer, etc...), and simply find it to be an unlikable genre.

Rotten professional review. How about some cons outside of the multiplayer nonsense that shouldn't have mattered much anyway? Was the reviewer trying to say that the random research tree detracted from the game? He did not make that clear. A 7 score is very appropriate, but the review failed to substantiate that.

Let me help do your job. Here are a couple of obvious flaws that are hard to miss:

-General lack of uniqueness among heroes and racial factions. ie. All sorcerer heroes start out as lightning hurlers, and tend to develop in the same fashion. All factions share the same basic subset of units with only minor variations thrown in.

-AI difficulty on the default setting is based on cheats. <- It's so bad that it has to receive bonuses already on normal mode.

Too bad Kevin VanOrd can't do every review gs puts out.

@skateryanboarde @LonerCat I'd say he's right on, as I'm in the state with the final fantasy series. The only off-shoot I can see being interested in buying later on down the road would be if Square decided to make a proper sequel to Final Fantasy Tactics.

FFXIII was the last one for me by the look of it. That game just wasn't fun, or even interesting to watch from a story perspective. Seeing poor reviews for the followups to it is kinda the nail in the coffin here. Someone not sharing your opinion of the state of a video game series does not equate to exaggeration, and certainly not warrant that childish "WEE OO!!!" bs you spewed out.

@Steveb106 Bastila, Morrigan, and Yuna are questionable protagonists. Typically the protagonist in a story is "The Lead" or the main/central character that the viewer follows. In the aforementioned character's games, the protagonist would respectively be Revan, The Grey Warden, and Tidus.

@w_1h I don't watch fox news myself. I get my news from the internet and occasionally local news broadcasts. This is similar to a lot of Americans these days. I have lots of options, and can read about and research whatever I want. That's what makes it a free society. We do have political correctness BS that restricts certain freedoms, but that's not quite equivalent to USSR circa 1945 and beyond. I am not stuck with a state run media, banned books/speech like the people living under Soviet rule were for decades.

What you described is a caricature of western civilization. I suppose you got your childish view of the west from some state propaganda nonsense.

@wildkeny Makes no sense. These games would play much better using a keyboard/mouse so long as it's not designed specifically to cater to console gamers. Think any single player CRPG that came out pre-2010.

@baddcarma @Monsterkillah It fails to show the greatest battle as Soviet propaganda dictated and drove into the skulls of its peons for decades.

In a free society evidence and solid argument dictate what is accepted as historical fact, as opposed to one party rule for some 40+ years. Whine all you want about "western propaganda". I agree that it has its own slant on history, but it doesn't come anywhere close to the harsh slant that exists in the totalitarian USSR's take.
