Okay here is a list from Canada computers

Case Antec 900 $99.99

Case Fan $11.99

CPU E8500 $209.99

HDD 500GB $87.99

Monitor BenQ(S-IPS) $351.99

Memory Patriot 2x2GB $110.99

Motherboard Gigabyte EP45 $152.99

PSU Corsair 750 W $124.99

GPU ATI 4870 X2 $584.99

Blu-ray reader $138.99

Subtotal $1864.9

Total $2,125.98

I put in a blu-ray reader/dvd writer because seeing as you have a 1080P capable monitor you mgiht as well get a blu-ray reaer to watch HD movies on your computer. You also have a little bit of extra cash to buy speakers, keyboard, mouse etc. Oh and tax was calculated with 14% assuming you live in ontario, happy building.

filmography

Great Build! There are a couple things missing however such as the OS, speakers, mouse, keyboard.

And also consider getting more RAM (double to 8GB) as Vista does take up quite a bit.

PS: the tax is 13% in Ontario so the Total would be $2107.34 CDN :D

i believe that PSU is way overkill. Honestly with a 8800GT you could prolly go to something as low as 450 or 500 watts, as long as its a good brand. Possibly spending less on your psu will allow you to get a better GPU or mobo.

[QUOTE="Petermannc31"]

[QUOTE="domke13"]Ye right. Do you know that 1euro = 1,469$? Besides he told us budget in pounds not euros, so he could get build u listed for around ~540 pounds, and his budget is 1000 pounds.domke13

ok so for further clarification the funky e at the end of a number is euro's and at the begining the funky e means pounds, or are the 2 symbols that look alik?

I live in america we only have to deal with dollars and peso's lol

God damn. You don't know that? How are your schools there in USA? This is basic knowledge...

€=euro, £=pound

Lol, yeah i was reading the posts and thinking, 'wow these guys have the wrong currency'

My old dell had serious cooling issues when I added in my 8800GTS a couple of months ago. It would often spike at 86C inside!

I would say forget upgrading just yet, and possibly save up around 700-800 to build a new computer entirely. You could obviously keep the monitor and etc if you arent planning on using it as a secondary PC, but it will take around 200$ out of your future budget :/

I think hes talking about a little 'thingy' that you plug in the PC wires, 360 wires, and PS3 wires (all audio) in three ends. Then you plug the speakers into the other end. There is a switch on the top that you can select which of the three sets of wires you want to hear audio out of.

Or somethingt like that :P

I admit I am very new to computers. I have been wondering whether I should OC my Q6700 or not. I really have no need to atm, as the only games I really play arent very demanding (COD4 being the most demanding). I dont play Crysis :O and I dont plan on buying it in the near future. But I feel that I could be getting more out of my rig than what I already do. I literally have no idea wtf I am doing, I looked in the OC guide pinned at the top but it wasnt much help :/

1.) What are the 'timings' that have to do with RAM? What do they have to do with OCing?

2.) http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=3755527&sku=A458-1210&srkey=ABIT%20IP35V

Is this a good mobo to OC with?

3.) http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2882686&CatId=2368

Is this good Memory to OC with? I have 4 x 1GB sticks.

I dont want to overclock insanely high, but moderately enough to get an overall better performance out of the PC. I was thinking up to at least 3.0Ghz ? That is if it isnt hard to do. ATM I do have (what my freind told me) a good fan, (thermaltake V1). And My PSU is 600watts, dunno if that effects OCing much.

I just want to know where to get started. Thanks ahead! :D

Very nice setup! Don't worry about the post, I like to see what other ppl are building, gives me ideas for next time :)

You definetly went top of the line on this one I see. I almost bought the same heatsink fan with my new build about a month ago, but i went with the Thermaltake V1 instead as I thought it would fit better in my case. I had heard that ppl were having trouble getting there's to fit, did you have any trouble with it?

Other than that everything seems to be great! The wireless internet card and the sound card would have been a waste for me (I use mobo sound and I prefer USB connection for internet) Very sharp looking case btw :D
